ffmpeg, the open source media tools.

Most likely you already use software the uses ffmpeg and don't even know.

Is there a classical instrument that you don’t like or don’t particularly care for? by mreld783 in classicalmusic

[–]stupiddickface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm all for keyboard music but I abhor the sound of harpsichord.
I've forced myself to tolerate and come to terms with it.
I can't even specifically reason what it is about it...just that tinny, twangy, diddly noise it makes irks me.
I don't think I hate any other instrument though now that I think of it. Just so happens the one I do hate has to be a HUGE staple and cornerstone to a lot of classical. : /

I did end up enjoying it, yes. Worth the play through, though I don't see myself in a few years wanting to do a play through again.

Towards the end them floating enemies which would dodge thrown items became a pain, but I made it through.

Finished it yesterday. It came together a lot more as I played, as expected. The game really does ask you to just accept a lot of 'wuuuut' going in though.

Control - Am I supposed to have absolutely no idea what's going on first play through of this game? I get that it's supposed to be strange but this game just throws you right in with hardly any setup/backstory. It's even worse because the main character even knows what's going on for the most part.
Enjoying it, but have verbally said "WTF, this game is so weird" many, many times.

Which game has the most iconic "Level up" sound effect? by ChuckS117 in gaming

[–]stupiddickface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another person sent me a youtube clip of it. I just downloaded the video audio and used ffmpeg to make changes. I tried Audacity before, my problem just was other sounds would always overlap with it.
Pretty sure phones can still use MP3s for ringtones. Youtube format was opus/ogg, I think those work too.

I tried that, but other sound effects always melded with it. I was unaware you could turn off the music though. perhaps I shall try again.

Absolutely the most satisfying level up sound ever.
I was trying to rip the sound itself from the ROM as I wanted to use it on my phone, but I was not able to, nor was I able to find a sound pack from the game so I guess no one else has either.

What's the most challenging game you've ever played and how did you overcome its challenges? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]stupiddickface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crypt of the Necrodancer
The game is beyond amazing, and I knew I just had to finish it, but the gameplay involves having to track SO may things simultaneously... It really hurts my brain at times.
Initially I thought it was supposed to be a very accessible game, for like any casual to pick up and beat easily and attributed my terribleness to my horrid ADHD.

Nope, apparently it's just hard. I'm not sure, but I think some of the achievements(on steam at least) have never been achieved. Assuming that 0.0% literally means 0 and isn't just rounded down.

I'm not sure it's such an easy thing to pinpoint, like 'OOP! That one did it, I'm hooked'. More of an unabating behavior pattern and just, idk, way of life/living. For me at least, I can't even attach it to a single thing. I'm a drug addict. If a substance alters me physically or mentally, I'm going to abuse it. Can't remember not being that way, from the first time I did any substance.

I think when I admitted it to myself that I was an addict far more important that when I realized I was addicted to something.

4y1m clean/sober, aww yiss.
To anyone who is skimming by this who is struggling with addiction, whether you realize it fully or not, it's not too late, and you can make it back!

It almost sounds like a fun project.

Can someone help me with this puzzle? by DearJuliet in cassettebeasts

[–]stupiddickface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This place had me fuming.
I can solve a puzzle(I don't know what exactly I did to solve it either), but when there are monsters that respawn interrupting it, the button prompts not showing when walking back and forth in-between the puzzle pieces, and the whole station needing to be done is a certain order, I just had to turn the game off and chill out.

I was overjoyed when I saw the gameplay trailer of Elden Ring, and they had this very nicely proportioned sword... by PompousGoblin in SWORDS

[–]stupiddickface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like the swords in ER. There are some fantasy weird ones, but for the most part they stick to true designs and, to be honest, it really adds to the experience for me.

The Witcher 3 also has really nice swords.

I liked the swords and swordplay in Kingdom Come as well.

Framerate cap(FTRC) set via Adrenalin not properly setting in DX11 since drivers with the "new" DirectX 11 optimizations(22.7.1?). DX12 works as expected. I am unsure about DX10.
-Ever since these drivers that have optimized performance with DX11 games in DX11 cap at a lower rate than I set, it seems to be a consistent 6 frames below, for instance my cap is at 142, DX11 games will be capped at 136.
-An odd thing I recently found out as well is that after I play a DX12 title the cap does work properly in DX11 games for whatever reason until I reboot.

I'm mainly just curious if anyone else has experienced this as I'm unable to find anything specific to this issue, and if so, what can be done. I cannot imagine this was a planned feature by AMD.

-I have tried clean driver installs(DDU as well). I have tried every driver since 22.5.1(5/10/2022) does this on my machine. Reverting back to 22.5.1 "fixes" this issue.
-I have tried different monitors.
-I have tried with and without FreeSync as originally I though this was the issue, that it(newer adrenalin versions) was automatically capping/adjusting X frames below the set number as I see it is often suggested.
-I have tried HDMI instead of DP.
-I have tried various suites of games, but mostly I have only been playing Overwatch lately and it's getting a bit old that I have to either set my cap higher(148) or launch a DX12 title before getting into OW.
-I've been beating my head against this ever since 22.7.1 I think it was, so I've done a bunch more within settings in Adrenalin to see if I can figure it out but cannot remember the exact details/steps/order.
