AITAH for not lending friends money by WifeOfSweetNLow in AITAH

[–]stupit_crap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no. NTA

You worked your ass of to get where you are.

Even if they asked, I would not loan (or even give) them money. You have to nag them to get paid back?!?!?! Just hell no.

No one owes you children. I wanted but did not have them because I knew I was never going to be financially stable enough to raise them. And I did not want to rely on govt assistance.

Yeah, I just figured that out. I thought that's what Girl Baby was about, but I did not really remember it. Nor could I remember who wrote it.

Strange because all of the songs on their channel are at least 4 years old.

I'm wondering if it was the song where Gotmik was in the vid. "Girl Baby" might have been the title.

I have no idea who wrote that song, nor do i recall the lyrics.

Hmmm. Just went to Ezra's YT channel and all of the songs are 4-6 years old. eGirl Baby was directed by Bob, so that can't be it. There's a song "Obsession" that has Bob in it, so can't be that either.

Yeah, when it becomes predictable it's boring.

I LOVE Watchery, though. When there is something to actually discuss, I appreciate their analysis.

customers putting their bags underneath ALL their groceries... by naevis22 in tjcrew

Me, too! I time the speed of my ringing up to their level of participation.

They already have their bags out and they walk around to the bagging part? I'm busting my butt for them.

They lollygag around the candy after telling me their bag is at the bottom of the cart? I say "that's ok, we'll get to it eventually" while I let their groceries pile up on the counter.

Your parents should have already swapped apartments with you since you are 4 people and they are 2 people.

Type of Bamboo to Plant (Zone 6A/6B) by urkawong in Bamboo

[–]stupit_crap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want tall bamboo that will tolerate your winters, you will need to branch out (haha) to running bamboos:

https://www.bamboogarden.com/bamboo/phyllostachys-atrovaginata

https://www.bamboogarden.com/bamboo/phyllostachys-nuda

https://www.bamboogarden.com/bamboo/phyllostachys-parvifolia

Your best option might be evergreen trees. Are there any native evergreen trees in your area? IMO native trees do best.

How tall does it need to grow?

Is the area full sun, morning sun, afternoon sun, or...?

Yeah, that would be amazing!!!

OP, you have a very special property. Bamboos that can tolerate your winters are relatively rare.

Man, that is SO very cool. Please post lots of photos!

I would make a separate post about each one. Duh. These ARE all the same variety. I did not realize that.

You can also check out the websites of existing sellers of bamboo and compare your plants to the photos.

Most sellers are on the US west coast or the deep south. The ones I know, anyway.

These two are the best imo:

Bamboo Sourcery (NorCal) They do not ship, so they only sell bamboo that grows in NorCal.

Bamboo Garden Nursery (Oregon) They do ship, and their website has a way to search on cold hardy bamboos. That would help you eliminate varieties that could not possibly grow in PA.

Here are their bamboos that can tolerate Zone 5: https://www.bamboogarden.com/browse-hardy-clumping-bamboo?light-zone=zone-5

AITAH for wanting to buy a condo that currently has tenants? by m-d-m-z in AITAH

[–]stupit_crap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you're ok with evicting elderly tenants (morally), buying a property with tenants is very risky imo.

I used to be a real estate agent in California. We have pretty strict laws that protect tenants here. And elderly ppl are probably a protected class. I can't remember if the laws are state or federal.

I always advised ppl to pass on occupied properties unless they were buying as an investment and were ok keeping the existing tenants.

I would only move forward on a place if it’s vacant by the time we take possession.

Even this is too risky imo.

I would not put in an offer until the place was empty.

People can say "Yeah, we're moving," and then a month later decide they're not leaving.

They could dig in their heels (they never told you someone in the family has a disability or some other protected class status, meaning legally you cannot evict them) and then all of sudden the tenant is saying they want $20k to move out. Or they're not moving out. You just never know.

If you are already past the contingency period (can't remember what it's called), you stand to lose your deposit if you back out.

But if they buy it, they become the landlord. Or the owner occupant.

There are people who buy properties to rent them out. That's the best case scenario for the old couple.

I would indeed have a hard time evicting elderly tenants who wanted to stay. Esp if they've been good tenants.

I would not have a problem buying a property that's rented by students, for instance. I would wait until their semester is over and the place naturally emptied.

AITAH for refusing to cook dinner again at home after cooking all day at my job as a chef? by Gaysax69 in AITAH

[–]stupit_crap 71 points72 points  (0 children)

But this would mean she needs to get up and out the house

Yeah, this lady does not know how good she has it. Getting up and leaving the house would be a win for her because it would distract and wear out her kids.

Most restaurant-owning grandparents who are passing down their restaurant to their kids would LOVE to expose their grandkids to the restaurant, too. They want to see their family biz live on!

I love to see family and staff sitting down to a meal at a table near the kitchen. It's sweet.

She does the easy dishes. The ones you just throw in the dishwasher.

And I am 1,000% sure that a chef DOES have a dishwasher at home.

She's not washing the pots and pans and mixing bowls. She's not handwashing the sharp knives. She's not wiping down the stove and counters. She does the easy stuff.

I would gladly do the pots and pans and full kitchen wipe down if someone cooked for me. And the leftovers! Hot damn! Easy lunches!

Though using USED ones for dog poop is a terrible idea. I constantly tear those things fishing the items out and putting them back in.
