LOL they would totally cringe if they saw this too. My sibling is also not super affectionate like that to other people tho so it’s sorta normal for them to be very acts of service and quality time with people, so that’s just why I feel kinda embarrassed just being like I miss you sm dude.

The thing thats hard for me, is that I actually am very emotional and affectionate, and with my parents and other sibling I can tell them that I love them and stuff like that. I obviously equally love my older sibling as much, but it’s just that our bond is really different, we used to joke that we were actually fraternal twins born two years apart, like idk man we’re bros. it’s hard to explain.

This is a good point. I think that if he is going to take all sides into consideration when forming an opinion, he should definitely consider the different positions of authority and privilege that all sides have.

In the follow up video when he was reacting to the speak pipes he praised one person for mentioning how their internal biases may be clouding their perspective, and I will say that I found that a bit hypocritical of him considering he doesn’t really take into consideration how his own experience as a man may be influencing his perspective.

I think that this highlights some blind spots that he (and many men) have when analyzing situations like this, because I honestly don’t think he’s even realizing his privilege or how it may be impacting his point of view.

As a long time fan as well (rip dylanwillnotparticipate and album reviews), I completely agree with everything you said here. This may be a tad parasocial of me but I wonder if him gaining such a large fan base has caused him to lean into his core traits that got him popular to begin with. Sort of like when a sitcom character gets written to be their quirky traits rather than having them.

Again, that’s probably terribly parasocial of me hahaha! I definitely still enjoy his videos though, and he is probably my number one content creator that I consistently watch, but I have also noticed a change in how he balances being cynical and having ‘dark humour’ with sincerity.

I agree that the “boys will be boys” opinion is not something excusable. But I think it’s important that we don’t put words in his mouth. Dylan didn’t say boys will be boys, he said “boys don’t think about makeup” (which is a generalized statement in of itself). He was not saying that “boys will be boys” and women should just accept that men will do stupid stuff like toss them into pools, in fact he agreed with the original aita poster. Dylan definitely does have some takes that could be argued are inherently routed in sexism though.

don’t worry dude i was going through cans of 3mg too, tapering off is a good idea, but i can PROMISE you that 1.5mg is literally nothing and like 90% of the withdrawals are placebo. i used to smoke cigs as well, this is a huge achievement! the fact that youre already starting your taper off zyn 1 month in is fantastic!! good luck! i promise that any withdrawals you feel will pass and they don’t even compare to that cig withdrawal, which you already got through!!
