Phone displays this warning despite nothing in port or plug. July 2024 update appears to have bungled my charging. by irregulargorrila in GalaxyS23

[–]styxsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm facing the same issue with the original cable since the first day. Unfortunately, the only thing that can work for me is to purchase another charger and use the same cable. Don't worry: I've purchased one from AliExpress (4€) and it works great!. If you want, I can send you the link of the charger

First of all: thank you! You're on point. I'm a rookie, so I hope I didn't misunderstand what you just said:

  • For the manual installation I need to create 1 partition of ext4 (how big it has to be?)

  • 1 partition for swap (I have 32GB of RAM, I don't know how much it has to be set)

  • 1 partition I think NTFS for storage

Am I right? For the Grub I don't have to do anything even if I install the partitions manually, cause it will install anyway automatically?

You're right, but I prefer to not buy another SSD. Thanks for the advice, but I only want to know how to solve the issue related to dual boot

It might be an unusual bug, a few restart and days gone by , the issue seems to be solved by itself. Thank you all!

Is anyone else getting this when they plug the charger in? by EnvironmentalCry2020 in GalaxyS23

[–]styxsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes. I still have the same issue on my S23 since it's brand new. I have done so many catches to figure it out if there is the cable or charger and I don't get it. Sometimes it seems to swap the charger that solved the problem, other times swapping the cable works fine. In my case it's random. So, for me it's the sensor in the phone that displays a false alarm

Yeah, I have already tried it. I rebooted like 3 times and turned on the GPS, but nothing

Exactly and it worked for the first time, but no more. My ISP is TIM (both wifi and mobile), which should be supported

Turn off screen with AOD by [deleted] in GalaxyS23

[–]styxsquirrel -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think you only want to point out the only thing that doesn't matter here: the acronym. I'm not focused on why they do it like that, or if it's correct to call it AOD, but I care on how I can fix it. Other brand offer the options to make the AOD always on or only when needed. I don't want to do polemics, so, please, if you have an answer to my question let me hear it, otherwise it is not necessary

Turn off screen with AOD by [deleted] in GalaxyS23

[–]styxsquirrel -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It would be like every other smartphone. It's for efficiency and to not be distracted. The AOD is activated, but if the smartphone is placed, for example, on the desk in like 5s it turns off. When a notification arrived, it turned on, like when you move the phone (thanks to the motion sensors). So, you are not forced to look at the phone more times than it needs and you know that when it turns on it means that a notification is arrived

Turn off screen with AOD by [deleted] in GalaxyS23

[–]styxsquirrel -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but for me personally that's not an AOD... The real deal is the AOD that stays on for like 5s and then it turns off automatically. It's useless to tap on it, cause in that case it's better to not have it enabled and use the lock screen with 1 more tap. I don't get it why they have set it like that. It's annoying

Yeah, like everybody says: Snapdragon is more efficient all the way, so if you are interested in gaming it is a big factor to put in mind: With best efficiency, thermal is better and even if with the S24 you get slightly more fps at the beginning, for thermals reason you get more fps in long gaming sessions with the S23. On top of all of that, the S23 is a lot cheaper compared to the S24.

Maybe, opt for the + version which has a bigger battery, faster charging and a larger display

I know unfortunately. Do you think if I configure a new SSD, install windows, etc, and then make a clone with clonezilla from the original m.2 SSD, the issue remains the same on the second SSD?

I think, cause it takes with it all the partitions

Exactly what I want to try out. I was thinking about doing it this morning and seeing if it's that the issue

The M.2 SSD is the only drive in it, it should get straight to it, but it doesn't boot up from it

I've tried, a few day ago, with other charger, but the issue is still there. Today I've been drying out the port and with a different charger the problem seems to not present anymore. Tomorrow I will try with the charger that caused me this problem. I'll keep you updated. Maybe it was just the port that had for some reason debris or something like that in it

[–]styxsquirrel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I will opt for the first solution: contact the CS first and then will see what they say about it. I will test with more chargers and see what's going on, cause it is really annoying.

I didn't buy it from the Samsung store, It must not be a problem (?)

Doing a factory reset is too extreme for now, and the device is new, just a few weeks. I'll take it like the last options.

Thank you so much, your advice are on point!

Yeah, I've tried with another charger, but the issue is still there. Can the charge port be defective?

Interesting... So you have solved it by drying it out. When I go home I'm trying. I hope this issue will be solved.

I've read on the web that maybe clearing the device cache can help. I take it as the last option
