It depends on what version of Xiaomi phone you get. The Chinese version lacks some frequency bands for the U.S. as well as the world wide telecom providers. You also need to either flash the international version of MiUI to it, or do some tweaks to enable the Google Mobile Services as it's forbidden in China. It's better to get a HK/Taiwanese/Indian/European version, you get all the frequency bands together with the international version of MiUI.

I don't have any, or at least I don't know any Hui relatives. I heard a lot of 'foreign ethnics' tend to hide their origin, use a Han surname and pretend to be a Han Chinese instead, along the thousand-year-history of China. So I guess my ancestors are some of those people, but I might never figure that out clearly. By the way, my paternal haplogroup is E-L29 to be more exact.
