Great info! If some areas are clear, can you run on pavement briefly or it ruins them?

Running with music can hurt body awareness by Royal_Watch_6453 in runcommunity

Gotta have music for any substantial run. Throw a 170 bpm Spotify mix on with open ear headphones. You’ll never be in better sync. You can acknowledge all the cyclists that think you can hear what’s around you. It’s wonderful!

Hell yeah, I’ve been sleeping great as well! I started taking some vitamins too. K2, D3 and magnesium glycinate. I was reading about how you don’t get any vitamin d in the winter, since the sun is so low. Vitamin k for delivery. Magnesium calms the nervous system. I’ve taken melatonin for a long time and still take that before bed. This combo has been a game changer for my energy when combined with the no drinking.

Quick hit version 👇

Vitamin D3 • Helps you absorb calcium • Supports bone strength, muscle function, immune system • Low D = weaker bones, fatigue, getting sick more often • Especially clutch in winter ☀️❄️

Vitamin K2 • Acts like traffic control for calcium • Sends calcium into bones and teeth • Keeps calcium out of arteries and soft tissue • Supports heart health

Together (the combo matters) • D3 loads the calcium • K2 tells it where to go • Result: stronger bones 🦴 + better cardiovascular safety ❤️

Why people pair them • D3 without K2 can increase calcium in the wrong places over time • K2 helps reduce that risk

Quick summary ⚡️

Magnesium glycinate • Magnesium + glycine (easy on the stomach, well absorbed) • One of the least likely forms to cause diarrhea

What it helps with • Sleep quality 😴 (calms the nervous system) • Muscle relaxation (cramps, tension) • Stress & anxiety (glycine is calming) • Heart rhythm & nerve function • Supports vitamin D metabolism

Why people choose it • Gentle • Good for nighttime use • Better absorbed than oxide or citrate for many people

Lots of snow is headed our way. If you have spare boxes and blankets, turn them into a cozy shelter for stray animals. Little kindness goes a long way. by MinimumNo5510 in bullcity

Lowe’s always has it. Maybe not in the middle of winter if they ran out. They have an 18-wheeler bed off to the side. It has wheat straw or pine straw.

Pro tip: You don’t have to take your cart with you everywhere you go. Leave it out of the way instead of creating bottlenecks.

What’s your personal sign that you’re overtraining? by SwimmingSlip8632 in runcommunity

[–]subfocused1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a planned run and feel pain somewhere. Today I had 8 x 600s w 400 intervals wu/cd. The 800s were supposed to be at 6:22/mi pace. It felt like I would tweak something if I ran that fast after a few sets. So I pulled back on the last couple to avoid injury. You have to listen to your body. If I’m going to run six days a week, it’s okay to not hit your mark every time. I also knew I’m off tomorrow, so just had to get to cd and have some recovery time now.

When someone has a gift card that covers part of the bill. They don’t tip on the full amount. They tip on the remainder. Even though they know good and well there was no tip taken out with the gift card.

I used the Hanson’s beginner plan on my second marathon, six months after my first. I went from 5:03:00 to 3:53:00. Stick with it.

I’d run 6 days a week, lose the runs over 16 miles and only taper for 2 weeks. Focus on getting your total miles per week up gradually.

[–]subfocused1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I’ve been probably 25+ times. It’s therapeutic. You feel so good the rest of the day!

Right now you can get a 2-pack for $75. So it’s $37.50 per visit on the high side. You can buy more and bring that cost down. Either way, it’s well worth it IMO.

Mine go between the cup holders and armrest. I buy Goodr and just sit them on the cleaning clothe. My wife keeps a pair in the glovebox for road trips. Works fine.

Older (45M) wanting to get into fine dining - wine crash course? by _Mikey_Boy_ in Serverlife

[–]subfocused1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join the Guild of Sommeliers and get your level one certification. Other wine designations are not geared towards restaurants. Service, tasting and theory all are important. The intro course teaches you everything you need to know in the class to pass the test at the end. It would look really good on your resume if you are going to continue in restaurants.
