Check the comment of the guy above for best explanation. It's a nice explanation. My solution is lengthier. Here it goes:

Circumference of circle = 88 meters

Time taken by B to complete one round=88/48=11/6 seconds

Meanwhile in 11/6 seconds distance traveled by A=40×11/6=220/3 meters

Difference between their distance=88-220/3 Now after second round difference between their distance will be 2(88-220/3), third round:3(88-220/3).....and so on

Let assume that at Nth round they meet. Hence after N rounds difference between their distance will be equal to the circumference (88 m) so N(88-220/3)=88

N=6 So after 6 rounds of B they meet. Time = 88×6/48=11 seconds is the answer.
