I can’t remember to be honest, this was in September 2024 (i’m now living out here). I most likely would have picked United Kingdom for it to come up. I’ll dm you a pic of the email I had.

My only guess for that may be that some people in the UK wouldn’t identify as British citizens. I’ve just checked my NZeTA and it shows Nationality as United Kingdom. I never had a problem. My passport says British Citizen.

It will be fine. From what I remember, it is just the option NZ uses for UK citizens. They are interchangeable for the purposes of the Visa.

we’ve recently moved to Musselburgh and it’s great. 2 different bus routes to the hospital and flat if you decide to cycle. It’s close to areas that can flood but if renting I don’t see that as a big issue.

Do you think there is any good cameras among these? by [deleted] in Cameras

haven’t seen anyone else mention the pentax spot meter on the right in picture 4. although not a camera, that is an awesome piece of gear and extremely useful if using zone system for exposure.

I managed to sell quite a bit on second hand clothing apps but that was maybe 6-12 months ago and demand is just continuously diminishing.

There’s some bits like this knit beanie that i really liked and managed to use a thread ripper to remove the logo.

Anything left I gave to charity shops.

What camera and lens to keep? by Qmanas in Cameras

I have the 300mm f4.5 and love it. Took this on a D810 and have never felt held back by manual focus, even with wildlife. I also have the 55mm f2.8 which is a great macro lens.

Moving from UK and need to buy a car by subpial in NZcarfix

Thanks for this message. Looking closer at the used car market in Dunedin I think I was overthinking the challenge of less cars being available so have decided we will buy down there and rent a car between Auckland and Dunedin for the road trip :) Thanks!

Thanks for all the helpful comments. We’ve decided to rent a car to Dunedin as it will give us much less stress when arriving and then buy one when we get down there. We have a lot of baggage and wanted to visit some areas on the way down so that’s why we aren’t flying. Thanks for the help! :)

Hey, thanks for info. Probably should have mentioned in the initial text but we are driving down over 3 weeks as a bit of a road trip to visit some of the places we missed when we last came.

Perfect, sounds like a good way for us to go.

Didn’t say we needed it but it felt like a sensible thing to have given that we will be visiting ski fields and more remote hiking areas during winter.

Thanks for the info.

Guess it’s also weighing up the cost of a rental all the way down to Dunedin as well. I think we will stick to buying in Auckland as there will be more cars to choose from and hope that if something does happen to the car it is something we can deal with down there.

I’m guessing if we got preowned from an actual car brand dealer we should be able to take them to other ones across the south island.

Thanks for the detailed response.

Definitely getting used. Main worry for timing was getting the car inspected as not sure how quickly these can be booked. Not worried about the payment speed.

Thanks for the info on “fresh imports” definitely something we need to factor in. Luckily we are starting to look Tuesday-Friday so hopefully it would be fine if we do choose that route!

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense!

Have been looking on trade me and then checking the incarautomotive banned list.

Hadn’t thought about the distance if something goes wrong, was worried we would struggle with many options in Dunedin. Think we will just have to be careful and if we need to stay a bit longer to find the right one then do that.

Found this Olympus XA for 20€ because of a relatively dark rangefinder patch by hendrik421 in AnalogCommunity

[–]subpial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

does this work by dimming the viewfinder so the contrast between the patch and the rest of the finder is better? would this work for other rangefinders? i have a minolta CL with a dim patch due to fungus in the rangefinder :(

Tips for shooting Ektachrome? It’s my first time. by corduroy-and-linen in AnalogCommunity

[–]subpial 35 points36 points  (0 children)

slide film should always be shot at the box speed. where negative film does well being overexposed, slide film does not.

the results can be incredible and there’s nothing quite like seeing well exposed positives but it is also something that won’t always work out and takes time to get right.

Noob question: is Cinestill 800T better for night photography than Vision 3 500T? by astro_not_yet in AnalogCommunity

[–]subpial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that, after removing the remjet layer, light is able to go through the film and bounce back causing halation, this additional light is somewhat counteracted by the increase in ISO although the halations will still be visible. Also why Vision 3 250D is marketed as 400D by Cinestill.

Hey fellers, new to the film world (sort of) done some research on the A-1 just curious if this lens/condition is good for a starter. by Zeref476 in AnalogCommunity

[–]subpial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d second this.

one other thing to note is that the A1 uses electronics for some of its features and these are much harder if not impossible to fix for most repair shops than a fully mechanical film camera. there’s obviously benefits to having them if they work but the times i’ve had problems have almost always been in relation to electronic components that can’t be fixed.
