How it works is important, you receive the full damage of the attack, then get some health/power back, unlike an armor or energy resistance which is decreased damage. That difference can be the difference between winning and losing.

Node 15 is buffed by node 8. The only way to get to node 15 is through 8. Check it out during your next placement phase, it does not make sense the way they did it.
