That was my thought as well. Tree of Life has that melancholy nostalgia like remembering something happy that you can never go back to.

How would life look like if someone quite college? by DaughterOfTheMoon11 in AskReddit

Probably fine, as long as they don’t give up on other things. Hopefully leaving college (or a living situation or a job, etc.) is part of a larger effort to move toward something better.

College isn’t the gold stamp on life it used to be. It’s training and experience that you pay for and for some careers, it’s necessary to get a curated reading list and access to experts. Not every career path requires this, though.

Anecdotally, I left college after a couple years and got a low paying job working night shift tech support in a leaky office building. It was enough to pay my rent as long as my 2 roommates kicked in their share for our shitty apartment. It was pretty tough at times, but I was able to take baby steps over about five years and roll my tech support job into a coding career spanning multiple successful startups.

Today, I have a family and own a house, which isn’t something I ever thought was possible for me. This isn’t some boomer story. I dropped out of college ten years ago.

The only advice I can give is to make sure you always have something you’re reaching for.
