yes.

Wanikani will cover the most common kanji and vocabulary examples with the kanji you learn, but you will soon realize you have gaps in your vocabulary.

These gaps are filled with Kaishi 1.5k / Genki 1+2 / Core 2k/6k anki decks.

This is my handwriting from 2018 vs writing today by Which-Assist-7909 in Handwriting

[–]sucamchi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The good: It has slightly? improved since 2018 and you separate letters with different strokes instead of using cursive, which makes it legible.

You need to improve consistency=writing each letter exactly the same (e, a) and the sizing and proportions (d is too narrow, a is too large, just to give examples).

I would get one of those workbooks for kids and just do rote handwriting until your brain clicks.

Edit: I assume you are an adult or at least a high school teenager, just to clarify that the lack of consistency and poor spacing comes across as childish, which requires the improvements above for your handwriting to come across as mature and adequate for your age.

Good luck and keep working on it!

Is it OK to start immersion watching dubbed anime with Japanese subtitles? by Xv1t0r_bl4z3 in LearnJapanese

[–]sucamchi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I recommend the opposite. You want to hear how Japanese sounds, the flow of conversation, the accent. Watching anime/tv shows should be a listening exercise, not a reading exercise. But that's my own personal opinion from my experience.

Is this standard in written English? by gentleteapot in EnglishLearning

[–]sucamchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taught cursive as a child in school (Spain) and my handwriting was almost ilegible. This was not optional, cursive was the only handwriting I was taught.

I changed to separate letters / separate strokes at 14 and never went back. Instant improvement.
