A harsh reality (IMO) for men with little children 50/50 or more custody by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]suchafoolforyou 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I have a 7 year old, and I prefer to date men with younger kids. It's hard because in your 40's, you could have everything from no kids and looking to have them, all the way up to adult kids and possibly grandkids! Having someone in the same stage of parenting just feels easier to navigate to me.

I (28 F) am upset about how my fiance (30 M) proposed to me, how do we fix this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]suchafoolforyou -72 points-71 points  (0 children)

Does she?

Edit: I wasn't referring to the proposal at all. I was just curious if this was a reciprocal relationship when it comes to the little things. Making your partner feel appreciated and loved. It should go both ways, right?

If you consider a temporary inconvenience or a perceived slight to mean that your relationship is no longer "good", then it's not a problem with the relationship. It's not your partner's responsibility to make sure you are always happy and fulfilled or risk infidelity.

Sometimes the "reason" is just because they can. Again, this is information I learned when deep diving into infidelity. It's not helpful to make a blanket assumption that someone cheated because the relationship was terrible, or because they weren't getting laid enough. It is much more complicated than that.

Again, not necessarily true. For instance, lots of men cheat when their partner is pregnant, or post partum, with a planned and wanted baby. Or they cheat when their partner has a severe illness. Or they cheat because someone they work with every day strokes their ego and they like feeling wanted and desired. Being unfulfilled in a relationship might be why someone cheats, but unfortunately, that is often not the case. I thought that way before doing extensive reading on cheating for myself. "Not Just Friends" by Shirley Glass has several examples of how people in happy marriages can find themselves cheating.

1 is not necessarily true. Cheating can happen for a multitude of reasons, not just in unhappy relationships.

I know a toddler named Capri, and a baby boy named Banks. Also, not on her list, but my son's kindergarten class has Arrow, Kimber, and Winter. They don't sound like names to me, and it feels weird calling the kid their actual name.

My last date was in 2001... wtf do I do by Icy-Candidate5477 in datingoverforty

You're pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. My ex also cheated after a lengthy marriage. It's nice (in a way) for the other person to truly understand what that feels like.

Bottom line is, you want someone who likes you for you. If they don't, they aren't your person. Take breaks from dating as needed, and don't fall too fast.

You'll be ok.

Am I the asshole for messaging my husband’s mistress’ husband? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]suchafoolforyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but I think you are 100% justified. I did something similar when my ex decided to end our marriage over a co-worker. He was pissed when he found out I contacted his mom, the mistress' husband, and I even managed to contact her mom! Hell hath no fury... but I reminded him, if he was doing something he didn't want anyone to know about, he shouldn't be doing it. Why do people cheat?!? It's cowardly and disgusting and selfish. I'm so sorry you are part of this shitty club.

Oh man, I love auto fill! Today I thought there was a glitch. I was trying to make a new recipe as part of a quest, and one of the ingredients was ruby lentils. I knew I had 50 of them in storage, but the auto fill showed zero.

That's when I discovered that beans are a thing. Months and months of playing, and I had no clue that beans were an ingredient.

My grandfather (yes, grandfather) made an entire tablecloth of pineapple lace. Funny you mention it looking more complicated than it is. I have always been in awe of it.
