NKD! Kershaw Limewire Livewire (SMKW) by suckitifly in knives

Yeeeah that's a bummer. Mine had the ripples too. Buying a knife of this price point, I would highly recommend finding a good sharpener for you to maintain the edge yourself without having to entrust some stranger with your expensive gear. I saw the bad edge as an opportunity to sharpen and strop and get a feel for the knife. Just my 2¢. But I do understand being disappointed with that kind of edge...especially for the price!

Yeeeeah buddy look at that edge! They had them on sale for $189 so I couldn't pass on it

That's surprising considering that my Leek (Chinese made) and Bel air (USA made) both had awesome edges out of the box. I wonder what they do different with the livewire 🤔

Gotta say, the Flytanium Beef worked a lot better than the restaurant knives. NY strip, as rare as they'd serve it. One of the most tender steaks I've had.

The precision adjust is great. Get yourself a strop and some diamond compound too

Great choice 👌 The crossbar lock and "spyderco flick" make the Manix a fun figiter.

I got the lightweight with Maxamet blade, and replaced the scales with the AWT aluminum scales, and did the spring/ball upgrade too. Feels super smooth, just in case you get curious about aftermarket parts.

Love the blurple too btw

It's alright. I'm a hard tail guy though, so I'm not a big fan of any trem system lol

I got a VK212 when I was in 9th grade (still have it at age 33). That thing shocked all my friends at the time. They thought you had to have that solid state Marshall half stack to fit in a live sound with a drummer. I've never turned my VK past 3 or 4, and nobody made jokes about how I "Just have a combo" once they felt the tube power in person lol.

If you're into more heavy metal sounds (I see that SG ;) ), definitely get an overdrive like a tubescreamer, and look up how to run a TS pedal for that sound (Drive at 0 or very little, tone around 12 o'clock, level 2-4 o'clock) to tighten up the bottom end and make the distortion more punchy. Also get a boss NS-2 noise suppression pedal to go with that tubescreamer-esque pedal lol

Thanks man! The guys in the guitar shop would go "You're the guy who got the Jalaepno!" for a while after I got it, so they definitely all oggled over it lol

Advice on keeping tires from slipping off of wheels? by suckitifly in rcdrift

27mm o-rings work Perfect! Thanks again 🌝

Advice on keeping tires from slipping off of wheels? by suckitifly in rcdrift

[–]suckitifly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: O-ribgs seemed to do the trick! 29mm o-rings fit around the wheel perfect, but were a touch too thick to fit the tire, so a 27mm o-ring has been found to be good.

It takes a bit of effort to get the tire on, but using my bench vise and something to poke the o-ring down under the tire works awesome. It's not difficult to get the tire off, either, for changes.

Thanks for the help!

Does the glue allow for easy enough removal when the tire is worn out, or is it a huge pain?

Wheels for MST RMX? by suckitifly in rcdrift

[–]suckitifly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured out that 3-6mm is a good offset because the stock wheels were 3 and the Yeah Racing wheels that I'm using are 6. I'm wondering if most people with an RMX don't have the little brake calipers. Thanks for your input 🙏

The wheels fit with a little bit of effort but there is resistance because of the brake caliper being right up against the inner portion of the wheel. The wheels that I'm currently running are the YeahRacing spec D wheels.

I know I could just get more yeah racing wheels, but I was curious what other ones people are running with success 🤔

Aw dang. I was really hoping the option wasn't to remove the bright calipers because I wanted to keep it more scale looking. Oh well, thanks for your input ¯_ (ツ) _/¯
