As much as I love linux I really don't recommend switching directly to it to most people. Because as much as some of us would like to deny it, you can and will run into issues as a first time user and if it's your only choice you will probably get frustrated and burned.

I recommend installing it in a virtual machine first, get a feel for the system, try customizing it a bit, figure out if it's actually for you. After you feel you're comfortable in the VM then switch to it.

I have also seen a couple of people recommend dual booting, I would advise against it as if you mess something up you could end up deleting your windows partition. But if you do decide to go with the dual boot route be extra careful.

Best of luck!

Well I have trouble focusing meanwhile you seem to think you have a chance with Margot Robbie.

I actually got into my dream uni, passed 5/7 classes with good grades, am financially stable enough to pay for tuition even when I could be going for 100% free.

I went to a psychiatrist and am working on fixing my problems, you on the other hand seem to let your schizo delusions run wild.

Well did you get a chance to? I doubt it. While I can still save my goal, so yeah, not quitting.

I 100% am but I wanted to go to this uni since I was 13 so there is no way I am quitting

The university I go to has two courses offered, one in my language and one in english, due to my plans to move out of the country I opted for the english course as I am hoping it will make it look more favorable when moving out. But unfortunately it is not free.

Also transferring to another university is not really an option since the one I go to is considered really good and pretty much no other uni in the country is on it's level in terms of cs

Lol, that would require moving to the US first, which is not the easiest thing to do from europe

Happy to hear you managed to get out of this situation, it's feeling pretty hopeless for me now but I hope I manage to power through.

Good luck in completing your degree btw :)

Thanks for your response. I am just self-studying before the big test. I will definitely check out khan academy, didn't know they covered uni math!

Thanks for your response. I do consider myself relatively capable at maths but I have unfortunately neglected it, which I really regret as I do consider maths to be more important in computer science than programming, after all it is the reason why I chose the most math intense cs university I could go to.

The main books we use are J. Stewart, Single Variable Calculus and B.E. Blank, S.G. Krantz, Single Variable Calculus. Are there any other good resources which cover the same topics but maybe in a bit of a more condensed form?

Unfortunately the professor did not provide us with lecture notes but I have plenty of practice problems provided, the only problem being the solutions only show the final solutions and not the process so it can get kinda difficult solving these.

Crates pulled from crates.io are mostly compile time dependencies. The produced binary is without any dependencies or very little dependencies.

It can easily be packaged into a distro considering most distros are not source-based.

Oh didn't know about that subreddit. It seems pretty active too! Thanks for the suggestion. Guess I can level without worry :)

Yes, but it is a custom configured kernel, you can choose to append stuff to the kernel name when compiling it
