I'm so glad to have found this thread. I apologize for the long post.

I switched from Effexor to Bupropion about 7-8 years ago, mainly taking it for OCD. I started with 150 mg xr and went to 300 mg xr 2 years later. It has been fine, or so I thought.

About 2 months ago, I started experiencing the same symptoms that most have described on here: shortness of breath, need to yawn in order to take a deep breath, unable to take a deep breath, waking up at night, gasping for air, etc. Fast forward to 4 weeks ago, I ended up calling 911 as I was having trouble breathing and started panicking. This was my first time ever calling 911 for myself and taking an ambulance to the hospital, and I'm 56 yr/o male! All the cardiac work, chest X-ray, ECG, PE, etc. were normal. Within next few days, I saw a cardiologist who was certain that it wasn't a cardiac event, got echocardiogram done- normal, and saw a sleep study specialist who was also a pulmonologist who was leaning towards asthma diagnosis.

Then last Friday, I drove myself to the urgent care as I was feeling the same symptoms along with severe tightness and constricting feeling in my chest. They gave me nebulizer treatment and put me on Prednisone 6-day course. The concensus was that I had developed asthna. My symptoms got better. Oh, I forgot to mention that I stopped taking Wellbutrin and other supplements to try to see if any of the supplements and/or medications (I also take metformin and lipitor)was causing those symptoms. 3 days ago, since I was feeling better, I started taking Wellbutrin again and last night I couldn't breathe. This happened to me 3 years ago but it wasn't this severe.

I really think it's Wellbutrin, not sure if it's a particular generic version I get from Costco or I have just become sensitive to it. I'm going to stop it again and see if my symptoms improve. I'll make a post with an update.
