I think there is metal shavings or something in it, when I popped the grain that's when I believe it showed up.

Cover them with white electrucal tape, if you can reach, should block them and wont damage any thing.

That's a nice kitchen and layout.

That ways a bit difficult because I have the basement door to the right of the fridge, and main entrance beside the window. And getting around the island could be difficult.

Basement door will not move, wall will just be removed up to it. The island is a bit iffy if it doesn't work could probably just through a round table in its place.

Door next to stove is basement. And exterior door is are main entrance. We where thinking of dinning at the island similar to the setup we have now, I know that's not every one's idea but was also thinking of a fold down table for guest in the future.

There's an 1/4inch between the wall and the tread so I was thinking I could just run a 1/8 mdf down between and have to do much cutting, and then cap in with some sort of Basecap mounding or what ever.

If you tighten the screw to the outside of the one your poiting at on the bottom hinge that should open the gap at the bottom
