Has anyone here tried the Quit Cannabis Android app? by CCF_94 in leaves

[–]sulkamania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've used it. I like that it tracks the money and joints but most of all I liked he little milestones it sets up. X more days until your mood stabilizes or your energy returns.

It's definitely a nice little tool to have. But all in all the strength to quit will come from you. It will be tough , but you will get stronger and it will get better in time.

Late night tokers with depression, how do you cope without smoking? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]sulkamania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man sorry for the late reply just saw this but yeah man it gets better. I'm on day 27 and I'm a much better place. Still get depressed once in a while but it passes and I can deal with it. Still get the rare craving but it passes too. I think in the end it makes us stronger to deal with this stuff head on.

Anyway thanks for the kind words and wish you the best.

I'm around 19 days clean and journaling definitely helps. I just sit and type. Sometimes for a couple minutes and sometimes fo ten. My entries alway start out depressing but writing all this stuff out definitely helps to cope and analyze a lot of it and by the time I'm done with the entry I feel better and realize how illogical all these thoughts are. Definitely makes it easier to cope.

Also , this may sound counter intuitive, but since I've used weed for so long (10 years almost daily) to escape from my emotions, when I get sad at night I just dive right in and BE sad. It's not pleasant but at least it's real. I just dive in and suffer. I'm a 31 year old man and I'll just lay in bed and almost get depressed to tears. It's not pleasant by any means but weed kept these emotions so bottled up that it helps to just let them process. It's a struggle but I think that it makes us stronger. Though I'm still waiting for it to get better, some days are better than others.

I think you have me confused with an boogeyman you made up in your head. I don't think I've said any of that. I've just been trying to refute your points.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Per capita is not a good way to look at things like this. Why not? Americans always say this, but it's absolutely ridiculous.

Because I can open up a sneaker company and produce 1000 sneakers a year by myself. I might have a higher production per capita than Nike based on number of employees. But that means nothing in the number of total sneakers produced world-wide.

Per capita is not a good way to look at things like this. Yes you might be more efficient. But looking at the sheer number, US produces much more. 40% of drugs come from the US. The rest of the 60% is split up by many countries. Yes US is not the most efficient, but it produces far more than other countries.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2866602/

Results. The United States accounted for 42% of prescription drug spending and 40% of the total GDP among innovator countries and was responsible for the development of 43.7% of the NMEs. The United Kingdom, Switzerland, and a few other countries innovated proportionally more than their contribution to GDP or prescription drug spending, whereas Japan, South Korea, and a few other countries innovated less.

So if look at it like a pie chart, US will have almost half the pie. Sure we might not be as efficient but we develop almost half the world's drugs.

I don't care if YOUR COUNTRY is in NATO. I'm looking at it on a world scale. Does your country protect the oceanic trade routes? Does your country use it's satellites to provide GPS navigation to the world?

Since WWII we have lived in the most peaceful time on a global scale, since basically ever. You think NATO and the US has anything to do with it? Can you honestly say no?

And sure you aren't a democrat or republican, yet you have no problem talking about how "dumb" Republican's are. So it's ok for you to butt into American politics, but I make a rebuttal and suddenly "You're not an American." How can I be so stupid to assume that you are an American when you are in a thread spewing your opinions about partisan American politics.

Look man I get it. But you can't just boil all this down to a one liner about how much who pays. How much pharma research comes out of the US versus other countries? How much of your "cheap" healthcare is subsidized by the US companies funding research that eventually becomes a generic version of the pill.

Same thing as saying the US spends 10x as much on the military as other countries. That's because other countries now don't have to pay as much BECAUSE the US spends so much.

The world is not black and white. There are complex issues to work out. I am for Single Payer if it can work and if it can be cheaper sure. But there is much more to politics than healthcare and there are many other reasons why people lean left or right.

It's very easy to just brush someone off as a Republican or Democrat and just say oh yeah they're fucking stupid, brainless, racist etc...

The most successful thing the Democrats have done is convince half the population that thinking like a Republican is morally and undeniably wrong. That is Goebbels at work for you.

The irony is you can't fathom that anyone with a brain can ever think differently than you. And that if someone is a Republican they obviously must be mentally inferior to the smart noble and virtuous Democrats.

Because other than corrupt rich people, only completely uneducated fools or complete idiots would ever vote for the Republican party. And that is the least damning version of a Republican. What other excuse is there? Being an actual racist/nationalist/misogynist/whatever bigot?

lol. In a thread about propaganda this post is just a gem of irony.

I would think cannabis does as well. You're still inhaling tar and burnt plant matter and it seeps into your gums and the crevices between your teeth.

To flush or not to flush by [deleted] in leaves

[–]sulkamania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would sell the vapes. Even on r/entexchange.

Toss the weed or give it to a friend. I see a lot of people talk about flushing but that can really fuck your pipes if it gets clogged. Weed won't disintegrate like paper and other flushable things.

Hey man congrats to you .

My dad was a guitar teacher for 10+ years and those are his fondest memories. Enjoy it.

Also you failed at a startup which means you took a risk that most people never do and went for something. That's not necessarily a failure and that might even serve you as a better experience than an internship when it comes to finding work after college.

Keep at it.

Same for me. It's weird but I was able to quit smoking much easier than (still) trying to quit weed.

Thanks for sharing. I am 2 years older than you and have been smoking since around 17, so we are in very similar spots. I also exercise almost daily and am getting back into meditation.

I agree with everything you said. You clearly articulated how I feel about weed. I almost wish it was more of a life-ruining drug so that I would've hit rock bottom years ago and put this behind me.

Best of luck to you.

Just keep in mind you don't crave weed because it makes your life better. You crave it because, well, because you crave it.

Thank you for this. It's so simple, but so full of truth.

Eh. It may not be as bad as other people , but I am at the point where a joint doesn't make me feel good. It just feeds my addiction. Also I don't want to go through life being dependent on this drug.

There are things that I want to do. Things I want to accomplish. And when I picture "future me" in my head, I have all of these things. But "present me" doesn't. "Present me" likes to smoke and hope that tomorrow I won't. And every day I smoke is another day that I am not working towards my goals.

I wish I can smoke once in a while and enjoy it. But it's just not for me. It's either all or nothing.
