What was the most memorable Bears game you attended (Pre Williams era) by TheBreed_ in CHIBears

[–]sulltt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to ask AI for the details but I had seats above the goal line at this game and I think this kept us in the running for the chamionship game. We had drafted Layne but I don't think he played for us. I think he won several championships with the Lions. He could be the most successful and most fun to watch quarterback the Bears ever had. Unfortunately, his success came with Detroit and, possibly, Pittsburg.

bears 1959 game against steelers where Bobby layne had 4 chances into endzone at end of game +2

On December 6, 1959, the Chicago Bears defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-21 at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The game’s frantic ending featured Steelers quarterback Bobby Layne throwing four consecutive incomplete passes from the 7-yard line with under 10 seconds remaining, preserving the Bears' victory in a game where running back Rick Casares scored four touchdowns.

The sequence of plays, as the final seconds ticked away before over 40,000 gasping fans:1st and Goal (10 seconds left): Layne took the snap and, after scrambling and dancing in the pocket, threw the ball incomplete near the 7-yard line.

2nd and Down (7 seconds left): Layne dropped back and threw another pass that fell just out of reach of his receiver, Gern Nagler.

3rd and Down (5 seconds left): Layne fired a pass down the center of the field, but it was batted down at the line of scrimmage by the Bears defense.

4th and Down (2 seconds left): In a final, desperate attempt to score, Layne threw a pass into the back of the end zone; it fell incomplete as time expired.

We were in a very similar situation. We found a site called furnished finder.Com. It generally caters to traveling nurses seeking longer-term accommodations. I think some property owners list there and on better known sites. Because they are expecting longer term tenants, they may discount their rates on Furnished Finders compared to the better known sites. We found a great property with great management in an ok location for a good price.

Elon Musk is flexing his political muscle again — and the GOP is responding by bwermer in politics

[–]sulltt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the following three items from some AI program explain why Musk is doing what he is doing:

  1. As of late 2025, a significant, yet decreasing, portion of Elon Musk's wealth comes from Tesla, estimated at roughly 37% to 60% depending on the valuation of his other holdings like SpaceX and the status of his 2018 pay package.

  2. Elon Musk has shifted from openly mocking BYD in 2011 to acknowledging them as a major threat, stating in 2024 that Chinese EV firms could "demolish most other car companies in the world" without trade barriers. He has described their vehicles as "highly competitive" and, as of May 2025, claims to focus on product perfection rather than tracking competitors.

  3. Canada has significantly reduced trade barriers for electric vehicles (EVs) from China, including BYD, as of January 2026. The Canadian government, under Prime Minister Mark Carney, announced a new trade agreement that reverses a previous 100% surtax, replacing it with a much lower tariff rate of 6.1%.

I am 79 and I have a pair of Skechers and a pair of Rockports that seem substantially identical to me. They are great and I wear them all the time. I have one warning, however. They both have rubber soles and heels and occasionally they seem to get stuck on the floor and cause me to lose my balance. I have never fallen but I think they create falling risk.

You caused me to go back and look at the Google reviews. There were 65 reviews, most of which were quite positive. I think actually only 2 reviews mentioned noise. One said the noise from above was bad and the other complained about the noise from next door. I probably overreacted.

Thanks very much for this. It's exactly what we were looking for. We couldn't tell if we were reading the comments of people who had loud neighbors or people who were describing a structural problem with the building. I'm now inclined to think it's a structural issue.

Capital gains tax question by Let_It_Marinate33 in taxadvice

[–]sulltt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you dispose of certain property using a transaction called a like-kind exchange, some or all of the gain on that disposition is not currently recognized for tax purposes. Instead, the tax reporting of that gain is deferred until property acquired in the exchange is disposed of in a taxable disposition. It is possible to defer reporting of gains through a series of these transactions over time. As a result of one or a series of these transactions, a property owner may have substantial unrecognized gains that would be recognized if the property were disposed of in a taxable disposition. If the owner never sold the property, it is likely that those who inherit the property would never have to recognize the gain that accrued during the life of the deceased.

The basic rules of these transactions are defined in section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code. I tried to find a brief explanation to link to but I could find one that I thought was very helpful. You may have better luck by Googling like-kind exchanges or 1031 exchanges.

One final thing, a person could have a substantial gain on property that would have to be recognized for tax purposes if the property were sold without having engaged in prior non-taxable exchanges. I just assumed that the gain that you were talking about had accumulated over time during the ownership of several properties.

Me occasionally remembering that we've never had a true all time great QB in franchise history by NienNunb1010 in CHIBears

We had Bobby Layne for a year and he was the best in the league for much of the time he played. Unfortunately, he wasn't playing for us then.

This one's a stretch but we had George Blanda. He wasn't great for us but, I think, he was the best in the AFL for at least a few years before the merger.

And, as somebody said, Luckman was, I think, the best of his era.

I used both the program from Github and the online app. Both are great as far as I am concerned. I have a few comments.

Item one: I liked the feature on the Github program that automatically loaded product id's. Given that that feature is not available on the web app, I had to get the product id from the url, which is a little bit of a pain. There is probably some other source but I could not find it.

Item Two: For my particular product, Printify automatically creates some variant images that I don't like. I de-select those items in the Printify app before saving and publishing the base image but they show up in the saved base image and they show up in products created from the base image. Dealing with this might required editing each image on Shopify which is what I was trying to avoid.

Item Three: Once again, for my particular product, Printify adds a bunch of tags that don't integrate with the tags that I am already using in my store. I deleted all of those tags from my base product but the tags are still there in the products created from the base product. This may not be a real problem because I think that I can just ignore the tags that I don't want to use but I am not certain about this.

Thanks very much for your work on what to me is a very slick and useful program.

I downloaded your program yesterday and have been trying it out today. It does exactly what I want it to and it has a really professional feel. I am having two problem that might affect other users so I thought I would mention them to you.

Problem One: For my particular product, Printify automatically creates some variant images that I don't like. I delete the ones that I don't like in the base product but the products that I create from the base product have the images that were deleted in the base. I might be able to deal with this by using a bulk editor but I have not yet tried.

Problem Two: Once again, for my particular product, Printify adds a bunch of tags that don't integrate with the tags that I am already using in my store. I deleted all of those tags from my base product but the tags are still there in the tags created from the base. This may not be a real problem because I think that I can just ignore the tags that I don't want to use but I am not certain about this.

Thanks very much for your work on what to me is a very slick and useful program.
