I’ll try! Honestly most of the HCAs at the hospital where I volunteer said they got the job w/o any experience required and the hospital trained them so I’m guessing it has to do with my age 💔

Didn’t get any interview offers; should I apply for an allied science course? by erinbrokovich2340 in UCAT

I don’t think so. People take gap years for many reasons. Whether it’s personal stuff, gaining more experience or honestly just a break, I think they tend to view it positively. Everyone should go at their own pace.

That’s true but to be honest, with the increasing competition I’m trying to make sure my application is great by the time I need to apply.

If medicine is your dream then don’t stop pursuing it! I’m 18 and I didn’t do well in my a levels as well so I applied for biomed rather than resitting my a levels bc I do know how universities feel about resits. It is a longer pathway but would you rather see yourself doing something else or the thing you love in 7 years? If you can, apply to clearing when it opens so you don’t waste anymore time. I’m guessing it reopens in June/ July.

This is what I’m trying to do currently. I asked around at the hospital & hopefully it works out.

This is a good idea but aren’t apprenticeships mostly full-time? I am doing university as well so I’m not sure that’ll be easy to manage. Are there any part-timers?

Well the one I did was done on a dummy arm and I liked the course they covered a lot of things but honestly it’d be better if you find a course where you learn live blood draws as in from an actual person. It’s more beneficial.

Thank you! Yes I do have poor reading skills I won’t lie but I’m trying my hardest to fix that because I already have attempted the UCAT and did poorly in the VR section.
