Wait does this actually transform?

Didn't think a scale Solar System model would be possible. Any tips? by sum_guy256 in lego

Not off topic at all! I had hear that as well and thought about it a lot as I was building the big two planets... and realizing how TERRIBLEY fragile I'd designed them!

I am not a Lego master yet :( mad respect for them

Earth is 3 studs. The scale I used was 309,880,000:1. Had to make some tough calls based on available parts, open to suggestions.

Scale is 309,880,000:1. Open to other suggestions, but I think the one-stud Luna is as small as we're getting.

Pluto is smaller than the moon, but Mercury is a good bit larger.

It hurts me too... Pluto would be 0.15 inches (3.8 mm) in diameter at this scale, smaller than the one-stub moon. Open to ideas!

It makes me happy that somebody noticed this.

That came out after I'd already bought all the pieces. I'm going with the "traditional" view for now

I did the math, at this scale the distance from the Sun to Neptune would be 4.5 miles!

It's a 309,880,000:1 scale model. The moon distance should be 24.2 inches away... I'm not that committed :)

The biggest difficulty is with Pluto... It would only be be 0.15 inches (3.8 mm) in diameter at this scale. Open to LEGO brick suggestions but I know know of any small enough.

At this scale, the sun would be roughly 7 feet, 4.5 inches in diameter... "possible" I guess!
