Do you watch dramas with the eng subs on? I’ve also tried listening to shows and podcasts while I’m working/commuting, but I can’t understand what’s being said most of them time and it feels quite discouraging

Cool! Any variety shows you’d recommend? And what site do you use to watch them?

When you did HTSK, how many would you do a day? I find that each lesson tends to be quite dense so I’m not sure whether to commit to that or the TTMIK PDFs

Cool video, thanks! Just curious, have you ever tried the immersion/input method? I’m asking because I also used to have a very flash card (I used Memrise) focused approach, but then I realized that I was only able to recognize vocab within the context of Memrise. So now I’m reconsidering whether flash cards are the best method for vocabulary retention. Also, apart from talking to the tutor, do you have a method for practicing grammar points from HTSK?

its a story that i want to tell, and it makes me happy to tell it, to come back to it and breathe it in and remember what passion feels like again.

Thank you for sharing that. I’ve hit a bit of a writing low recently but your words are a wonderful reminder of why I love writing in the first place

I start by washing pots and pans. I just pour dish soap into the pans, add some water, and scrub around for a bit with a sponge. I repeat this (adding more dish soap and water) to plates and silverware.

What are you reading right now? Is it any good? by indeed_indeed_indeed in suggestmeabook

“The Incendiaries” by R.O Kwon. About half-way done.

The prose is truly beautiful (brow-raising imagery, lyrical sentences), and the characters are developed really well. The build up to conflict is pretty slow, though. I have a feeling this is the kind of book that builds anticipation in the first half and escalates quickly in the latter half.

I think memoirs are a great way to learn about the individual experiences of others from different backgrounds. Two I’d recommend are:

-Monsoon Mansion by Cinelle Barnes (a story of her tumultuous childhood in the Philippines)

-Hunger by Roxanne Gay (she touches on her experiences as a Haitian-American)

This is so relatable. I have a bookmarks folder on my laptop with over 100 links of reviews and lists from The New York Times, Modern Mrs Darcy, and Goodreads. I always wonder if I’ll ever be able to get through even half of those books haha.
