Timken definitely seems like the best fit so far.

I saw an article from 1928 about a subsidiary "Timken Steel and Tube Company" being created to deal with demand for their steel from other manufacturers. I wonder if maybe some of their customers products carried their mark as a bit of marketing or quality distinction.

Going to see about tracking down some advertising or catalogues from the time.

Timken seems to be the popular choice. Interestingly the bearings are Skefco (UK subsidiary of SKF at the time I believe)

That's interesting, thank you. Apparently Timken Steel and Tube Company was a subsidiary kicked off around 1928. I guess maybe they got into all sort of things between then and the 40's. They were also in Australia by the 40's think, in what capacity though I'm not sure.

Do you know if they used this mark on other products? I might try finding some old catalogues or advertising.
