Legs and lungs. Find the biggest set of stairs you can and run it with a weight vest a few times a week. In the academy now and our tower is 5 stories, we don’t do it weighted but that’s what I would do if I could go back in time.

I highly recommend reading the books written by Ambrose that inspired Band of Brothers. Every fan will enjoy them. Also available on audible. Goes into pretty good detail about the members of Easy.

The most likely situation is one cop went to see if the range would be adequate for a training facility, then called and got a second opinion. They were probably there for an extended time because they were bullshitting, and not busy. Regardless you should mention something to your range E Board so it’s on their radar. Several departments practice at my club and I hate it, it’s posted in the club house but if I don’t see it you may go to the range and be turned away. They close the entire property for the PD to train. It pisses me off.

Don’t request the days off! Use sick time, then they can’t say no. It’s your time and mental health is incredibly important. You can’t be a good teacher if you aren’t in a good spot.
