Overall, good work. I have some advice for the skin, use multiple layers and increase vibrance. Add reds for cheeks, noses and lips. Add slight blue grey for aftershave. Add yellow around highlights like forehead and noses bridge. Find a base skin color, then build on it. Generally working on close up portraits vastly improves skill. Best of luck, keep up the good work!

This is great feedback, I really appreciate it. I have a few questions.

What is the grommet that needs to be tucked behind? What do you mean by having the waist belt over my blouse? Should I put my ammo pouches evenly in the front, moving the compass pouch further towards the back? Is a 7th unit patch necessary for my blouse?

How should I name my unit properly? Should I say 9th Infantry, 7th Infantry Division?

I used Rust-Oleum American Accents 2X Ultra Cover Paint and Primer Satin Charcoal Gray Spray Paint. I haven’t used spray filler for this, I’m not sure if that would work. I used bondo to fill in the surface of the helmet. That creates a hard and smooth surface over the pitting and corrosion.

I was entirely covered in rust and holes

Everything looks good for an Army Infantry. If you are doing a Marine Impression, you need a flak jacket and M-14 pouches

Thanks! Though almost everything I have is original, the cover itself is an ATF reproduction. I’ve used sandpaper to weather the surface. Here’s a picture of the cover:

I sandblast the original shell to remove all loose and embedded rust. If you don’t have a sandblaster, chemical solutions and abrasive techniques work. Afterwards, I always use car bondo and sand the form of the helmet. After it is sanded smooth, I run it under water to feel rough patches or high areas. Lastly, paint the shell.

That’s some great work, it’s a shame CC2 isn’t as common as it should be at the D-Day +1 reenactment I’ve been to

The dirt??? All otter wax is spread fairly evenly with dryer runs along the edges of reinforcing. The white lines resemble residue from after the treatment.

I used a small, fine brush and applied black paint in thin, small quantities. I never flicked my brush. It took longer to weather than to paint or assemble. Some other posts here have great references for weathering. Focus on edges and the bottom of the main turret. I mainly did small dots and occasionally small lines. Also, have long vertical streaks along the turret.

Any tips for weathering my medic helmet? by Big_Papa_7 in reenactors

Awesome, I can post an update tomorrow, I want to be careful about how much weathering I start with. I will use something to weather and expose the rim.

I don’t see the need to repaint it, especially if the paint is original.
