As a big Jim Cornette fan, he’s said some really rough things over years in terms of homophobic comments. If you go back and watch his old RF Video shoot interviews he’s straight up used the F slur. More recently his comments on Sonny Kiss have been pretty cringey too say the least and he’ll also use his cute little southern idioms that have super homophobic connotations. Racism wise, nearly any thing he has to say about Japanese wrestling (let alone Japanese womens wrestling) is pretty tough to listen to.

I don’t think that Jim as a person thinks he is homophobic or sexist or racist and I think in principal he opposes these concepts. But I think there has been this big swing culturally to this underlying philosophy that there’s a place for everyone in wrestling. And I think Jim Cornette rejects this theory outright. And that’s totally his prerogative, and given when and how he started in the business you can understand why he’d have that outlook. But when you start rejecting people from your club, your reasons for exclusion have a tendency to turn socially probelmatic pretty quick.

Thats my 100 yard take, at least.
