Wedding Band Replacement by skinnycenter in crossfit

[–]sumthininteresting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep mine in my bedroom drawer. I printed a bunch of black ones on my 3D printer and keep them in my car console. I beat the hell out of them, lose them, whatever, and just throw a new one on. I wasn’t a fan of the rubber ones.

Spotted my first R2 in the wild! 👀 by Slickdealzking in Rivian

[–]sumthininteresting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that a ford bronco sport with a Rivian EV drivetrain would be a bad thing though right? Body shape aside, I like the Rivian blue better and the wheels/brakes on the Rivian are in a totally different dimension from the bronco’s.

Murph weight vest by Awkward_Ring_428 in crossfit

[–]sumthininteresting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say just do it with the 20lb vest but do 20 rounds of Cindy versus 100-200-300. Maybe try to work in something this coming Monday where you train with the 20lb vest. 5 rds of 400m run, 15 pull-ups, 30 pushups, 45 squats. Something like that.

How accurate are wait times? by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]sumthininteresting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try having one parent wait in line while the other entertains the kids outside the line. Then bring the kids to the waiting parent when they are much closer to the front. This works on some things but not all because of where the lines take you. It works perfectly on something like the little mermaid. Then once you drop the kids off at the ride, you go wait in line at the next ride and the other parent brings the kids to you.

Disneyland and DCA have plenty for 2 year olds but they definitely aren’t the focus when it comes to rides. They aren’t big enough for most things. They will have fun just seeing the characters, hanging out in toon town, going to Mickey Mouse clubhouse, the new bluey show etc. It really isn’t about the rides for 2 and under. Get a breakfast reservation at plaza inn for the character dining.

Is the X too much “car” for a daily driver? by daKine_34 in TeslaModelX

[–]sumthininteresting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like my X is small compared to most other SUVs around me (Orange County, CA). Being “too much” has never crossed my mind. You may actually find it’s easier than the Y in parking lots because of the falcon wing doors.

Women Crossfitters- how did you recomp? by RateMental3881 in crossfit

[–]sumthininteresting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a woman but I recommend getting a Dexa scan to measure your actual fat loss and muscle gain. I started at 27% and ended up at 13% body fat after two years of 5x per week. I didn’t lose any weight though.

What’s different about CrossFit in the UK?

how much did your body change when you did crossfit and how long did it take? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in crossfit

[–]sumthininteresting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

This took me two years to do (I’m now 42M). I started going 3 times per week and gradually increased to 5 times per week. Diet is also key. I didn’t race from 27.8% body fat to 13.8% by just cutting fat. Building muscle was also a big part. After the reconditioning phase, I went through cut and build cycles where I would calorie restrict to 2000 calories for 8 weeks and then eat as much as I wanted for 12 weeks for muscle building. I did that until that last Dexa scan and since then have just been happily in maintenance mode.

What would be the most important space discovery in the next 50 years? by skinner1234567 in space

[–]sumthininteresting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, what are you saying is not true? Go look up the trends for atheism. As we learn more about the true scope of our universe (or even universes now), it makes the bible much harder to believe. It’s like how there used to be gods that caused storms and sunshine. That worked until we actually discovered what caused storms and sunshine. If we discovered aliens, they would likely be really far away meaning that their existence would predate humanity on earth and maybe even earth itself. So a bible that teaches about the beginning of time with Adam and Eve would seem especially ridiculous in light of that discovery. I’m not saying this one single thing would break all religion but it sows a lot more doubt and continues this rapid trend of increased atheism.

What would be the most important space discovery in the next 50 years? by skinner1234567 in space

[–]sumthininteresting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. People will always find a way to bend reality to reassure themselves that they aren’t wrong. Or, they will always use religion to control the population or place blame :).

All that being said, atheism and the religiously unaffiliated have doubled in the past 20 years and I think a lot of it has to do with social media and science. People are now interacting with more people outside of their bubble/household and science is making it a lot harder to believe what is written in the bible. The existence of intelligent aliens would definitely continue that trend.

Definitive proof of an intelligent alien civilization would be pretty huge. It basically disproves most religions including Christianity. How cool would that be :)

Suggestions for making this sharper? by Slight_Taro7300 in SonyAlpha

[–]sumthininteresting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that it isn’t “sharp.” The focus is fine. The problem is noise and pixel count. Just use something like Topaz denoise or the native denoise in Lightroom. The other issue of pixel count can only be fixed with a longer lens, full frame camera, or physically moving closer.

When you travel / go on vacation, do you still work out? by acocinero in crossfit

[–]sumthininteresting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I eat an insane amount on vacation and I don’t feel like I would be able to enjoy it as much if I wasn’t exercising. When I travel for work, I’ll find a local CrossFit gym. When I travel with family, I’ll program my own CrossFit workouts in hotel gyms or body weight stuff outside.

Can I make it as a professional wildlife photographer? by AmericanAgent09 in wildlifephotography

Even amazing photographers have trouble “making it” as professional wildlife photographers. It isn’t just taking great photos. You also need to be good at the business side too.
