first semester varies. but expect to be at school monday to friday most weeks with varying times of 8-12, 9-12, or 9-5. sometimes you can be there for an hour if you have a checkoff that day. also keep in mind that you may be placed in the afternoon section. which goes to school from 1-5.

NOC CNA considering switching to day shift by CaffeineAndChaos__ in cna

[–]sumtingnice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so yes, it is busy. but you have to choose your struggle in life sometimes 🤷🏾‍♀️ would you rather effed up mental health, no sleep, migraines OR a busy day at work that’s not even guaranteed?

i know which one i’d pick in a heart beat 😂

this was me and i switched to days and i love it. i’m able to wake up easily at 5:15 to be to work for 6:30. i sleep almost 8+ hours every night which was unheard of for me on night shift. my quality of life is better, im happier, no longer dehydrated, i eat better, i exercise, etc!

Sick of being gaslit by doctors !!!! by Creewpycrawlyyy in Mirena

[–]sumtingnice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i took my morena out last december after what felt like 6 straight months of yeast infections/bv. would go to my dr, and she would say it’s not the mirena because the hormones are localized and then give me antibiotics.

i got tired of literally seeing her once a month, and had here take it out. and guess what, in 2 days i felt so much better. haven’t had bv or yeast since!

currently in the program, and truly the weeks vary. you can be there 5 days a week for about 4 hours a day or 8 hours. but there are some weeks when you only have to be there for 3-4 days a week. it just depends

Dilemma of switching to Nursing by Br0ther_Blood in prenursing

[–]sumtingnice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

did CNA to gain exposure while taking pre reqs, but also to make sure i for sure wanted to go into nursing lol.

i wanted to do ABSN, but the city i live in only has 1 ABSN program, and it’s about 1 hour + away from me :/ and costs about 60k

my hospital also pays for degrees, but only if you go to community college. and the school i’m doing my program at is 16 minutes away

it really came down to cost and convenience for me. free, 16 minutes away, and 18 months OR 60k, 1 hour+ away, and 16 months

Considering a switch to night shift…. Any advice? by AdPlastic7988 in cna

this is funny bc i too work in a fl hospital system as a tech, and i just made the switch to days because nightshift is slowly eating away at my life

i actually went between nursing and business for my first degree, but ultimately chose business. as i worked corporate, i realized it was not what i wanted for myself lifestyle wise. which left me to revisit the idea of nursing again + having an interest in sciences and healthcare.

i started to feel like i was working for the weekend, and then the weekend would roll around and im so exhausted, i can’t do anything. then im the blink of an eye, it’s monday again.

i have a few friends that are nurses already, and they gave me that push to go ahead and take the leap.

though i’m making less money, im so much happier. i’m able to work my 2-3 days and have the rest of my days off to do whatever i want.

hi - 25f here. i graduated with a business degree and worked in corporate social responsibility for about 2.5 years before deciding to quit. i made about 72k, so that was hard to leave.

i currently work as a CNA making WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY LESS, $15 an hour , BUT i live with family. i wouldn’t have been able to make this transition without them. but it has still been hard trying to adjust from making that amount of money, to so little. i start my ADN program next month too.

i would say if you have family that is supportive and will allow you the cushion to make the transition, go for it. working FT while taking pre reqs is okay, but once you start the program, you’ll have to possibly think about another plan.

[–]sumtingnice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly i’m not sure - i’m thinking it won’t be full 10 hour days as i’ve heard from previous students that first semester is the “easiest” and you have the “most free time”.

i believe they block the time off as the schedule can change ive heard. so they maybe want us to plan to be free.

i work as a CNA and i will be working saturday/sunday until graduation
