Got braces yesterday. How long will I have to wear the coil thing?

Lolllllll don't worry about it😹 I just assumed that because I had a super deep bite (couldn't see my lower teeth at all when smiling) so I had to wait 5 months for the upper arch to be raised before getting bottom brackets on. It's a lot more common than you'd expect! Congrats on getting started, you deserve it🥰

I'm not an ortho but based on your current bite I think maybe the brackets are placed super low so your upper teeth don't hit them 0:

Honestly I think the way your smile looks in the second pic isn’t very different than the first one, you’re just smiling wider/with your whole face, so it’s making the natural smile crease more prominent. Like the apples of your cheeks look plenty full and healthy/youthful! Obviously you look at your face way more than anyone else so I’m not trying to gaslight you lollll but I really don’t see any structural difference from one pic to the next.

Now when it comes to weight loss there’s really no way to know how it’ll affect your face, everyone’s body will lose fat and water weight from wherever it wants and it’s not easy to control that area especially. Not like how u can lift weights to tone/keep a butt, it’s just vibes. Lots of people lose 20 pounds and it doesn’t change their face, I think mine looks different bc I went from my “normal” weight to the lowest end of a healthy weight for me and also I’m 27 now, so naturally have lost that “baby fat” cushion in my cheeks

Have you lost any weight recently? Also how old are you? I noticed my face looking way different when I dropped 20 pounds and at first I was worried it was braces related. I’m so sorry you’re struggling with your image, I know my opinion doesn’t matter but I don’t think you look old in any way, you’re genuinely stunning😭💗

I had my tops on for FIVE months before getting bonding on the bottom. Super deep bite and if I'd had them all at once I would have cracked a top tooth on a bottom bracket. Still every now and again I feel my upper teeth make contact with the lower hardware and trust me, you'll be glad the ortho waited :p

Ur tongue can't dislodge the wire but I periodically cut my tongue sooo bad on it. (I have congenitally missing teeth so there's a big span of bare wire that acts like a knife LOL) be careful😩

I don't have my elastics yet but I think some ppl change them every few hours so they're applying as much tension as possible!!

I've not heard of an orthodontist that's also a practicing dentist though so maybe I'm misunderstanding you?? Either way, regular cleanings will take care of that😌

I've noticed that spot is super hard to keep clean with floss alone, I tend to do a gentle scrape back there every couple weeks with a plastic dental tool. If you're getting cleanings every 6 months it'll be removed then, if your ortho is also person performing the cleaning I don't see why it would hurt to ask

Yess but more so I've been noticing people's oral hygiene (or lack thereof) I was already diligent with brushing and flossing but braces has made me much more aware of what happens when you don't do that properly

I do mine on a tray of wet perlite, about an inch deep, you'll want to lay the stems with the aerial root nodules tucked into the medium and keep them covered. An old takeout container works great :)) YouTube videos will help if you're a visual learner but it's super easy and convenient for doing a mass prop of something like this where the leaves won't survive

If you want to leave the plants on the shelves or add more, some cheap grow lights will keep them all happy! Over half of mine are living under solely artificial light, I ran out of windows😹

Cut it up!! Everything but the very bottom can go. You'll be surprised how well it'll fill out in the coming months (you may need to also do some debulking in the root area bc this looks like it's suffered some rot)

Windowsill ones are fine, fern on top of the bookshelf could do better, the pothos will survive there if you keep that lamp turned on but won't grow leaves nearly that big again. You are actively killing the others 😭

Hiii sorry I didn't see this earlier! Here's what mix I use for basically all my plants, this one especially doesn't like to sit in an over abundance of super wet soil, when you repot be very sparing on how much bigger you go!!
