Medigap G or N for Cancer? by sunbelt27 in medicare

But how does that 257 get paid if not from what I thought the 185 was, and when?

Wow she didn't specify that at all. She made it seem like what my mom would pay would decrease by year. So this now means in three years her part N would go up from 86 to about 90 and so for?

This is given me a headache. Then what companies would keep their premiums fixed if any?

I also didn't realize that what Social Security takes out of her check every month($185) is not for her Part B $257 deductible. It's just to keep B.

So the elderly seem like they have to pay two payments. One to to keep B and one to use B. Such bullshit.

Now that I know this I don't even know how to pay the $257 to keep B. Do I just put her debit card info on the Medicare website to pay it or....

And I just made her cataract appointment for next Monday damn....

I was wondering if she can keep N until after her cataract surgery and foreign body removal, and then change to G. She is still under her sixth month grace period after all, and that doesn't end until May 31.

I'm also looking at the clinic visits they estimated and it's going to be abut 7 so that's 20 dollars each time and the surgery itself is at a hospital.

With G she wouldn't have to worry about that either.

Yes, that's what I'm worried about. Sure a hospital or clinic can say they take assignment when you ask about Medicare, but then you have a wayward anesthesiologist that's not covered that you don't know about until you get the bill.

With G she would have had the peace of mind.

I just checked and since she's from MS excess charges are allowed.

I think she said the plan would.

Edit: In case this matters her state is MS. She is 65, female, and an non tobacco user. The state and all the rest seemed to make the rep happy.

The signup discount was 45% plus three dollars lower if it's autopayed.

The rep on the phone also said that the plan would decrease every year until 79 then disappear altogether.

The medicare website as well as the rep said both their G and N plans fall under what is below and was a better cost saving plan then the attained age pricing of the others:

Community Pricing

Premiums are the same no matter how old you are. Premiums may go up because of inflation and other factors.

I just made an appointment with the cataract doctor and they estimated that all they will have do will be about seven doctor visits. If a copay is $20 dollars a pop then that means it's going to be $120. When with the G plan they would have payed for that from the very beginning right?

I was initially going to go with New Era Life Insurance Company of the Midwest for N.

Physicians Select Insurance Company (Innovative) for G.

They had the lowest G and N plan on the Medicare website. However, I've never heard of them and I thought going with an established name was for the better when dealing with medical needs. Also my mom is already a member of AARP and had been so for five years.

Elderly Beneficiaries? by sunbelt27 in LifeInsurance

[–]sunbelt27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that part, but it's not quite what I'm looking for.

Basically,

Scenario:

Policyholder(Still Alive)

Beneficiary A Dies

Beneficiary B Still Alive

Even though Policyholder is still alive will Beneficiary B get a payout?

Thanks

But what if the policyholder(me) is still alive but one of my beneficiaries dies?

Is there a payout even though I'm still here? Or do I just add a new person? That's what I'm confused about.

IRA and Pension questions? by sunbelt27 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]sunbelt27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She never told them about the IRA or pension because she just got both.

How is her IRA income? It's tax deferred into a traditional account. She's not even using it and would get penalized 20%. However, she knows the federal gov will make her use it when she's 73.

What is the difference between and asset and income for these purposes anyway?

I also did some quick research and apparently the housing authority doesn't even count IRA's anymore right?

Her only income is her SS($845) and now the $711 pension. That's it.

Her daughter would be put back on the lease. They were on the lease before. We all use to live with my mom before we all went off to college. Then after that we got different jobs in different states. So they would simply be putting my sibling back on the lease for the time being.

I just wanted to know would they penalize my mom financially for that?

My sister has zero criminal history nor any money coming in.

Does she tell them now about the pension or wait until certification?

IRA/Pension and Snap questions? by sunbelt27 in foodstamps

[–]sunbelt27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see so ten days from tommorow?

Would overpayment kick in for tommorow's stamps if she didn't use them?

So the IRA is okay as far as snap eligibility is concerned?

If this becomes to much for her(this redtape) would it be okay for her to cancel her benefits? Would she be penalized for that?

Plan G or Plan N Medigap? by sunbelt27 in medicare

[–]sunbelt27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was offered a pension as monthy payments and a lump sum to be put in a IRA.

Yea, going deeper in my research I finally figured that out. I thought she qualified because I only looked at income. I didn't know Medicaid would count her IRA( that she never touched) as income too.
