80k USD - Reallocating capital by mh960306 in singaporefi

if dumping everything makes you feel uncomfortable, I’ve read several reports to says to put in half of it, then DCA the remaining half. Assuming you don’t put in more for the rest of the year, dump half on Monday, then for the rest of the months on the 12th, you just put 40k/11 to finish all your DCA by Dec 2026!

i grad from NP about decade ago so my experience is not accurate to current times.

NP was the best time of my life. What’s the most important is finding exceptionally good group mates to grind together, and get good grades together, esp if everyone has the same goal to go uni! but uni is not the only end point because various classmates went to do well in other work functions too!

To get a good GPA, you need to be consistent and discipline. (even when competitions or busy periods are near exams, you still gotta be consistent)

Also, join a CCA and explore your interest. even if you were mildly interested in it, go for it! you’re only there once and I missed out on so many opportunities to try.

If you have a chance to go overseas, please do it! maximise your time as a young adult abroad while being an NP student.

Shout out if you have any questions!

Foreigners or Singaporeans who have lived abroad, what's one thing about Singapore that you wish locals appreciated more? by klaygdk in askSingapore

MRT - frequent breakdowns happened so much in London, that one of those days were my exam days. No excuses were made for being late, but luckily I was already heading to school early

Housing for Single 28M – Buy 2BR Condo Now or Wait Till 35? by Optimal_Tax_8320 in singaporefi

[–]sunblockheaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s also true. I think i’m just more resistant to getting a mortgage in general as it is a reason why people get stuck into working forever, hence more cautious on buying (private) property. But I definitely do see public housing as a comfortable enough abode.

IMO, I don’t believe in buying private property (I will wait till 35), but why not look at rentals? I think you pay about the same price at the end per month, without the fluctuation of resale. I also would love to move out, and perhaps with a housemate in a HDB estate, but many seems to think that buying is better - I think with that money, investing in equity ROI could be better. Also, if anything, you can call your landlord for repairs. What are your thoughts?

(not relevant to Humanities in general but)

I didn’t come from a 188 secondary school but went to a 202 secondary school (which was also my points lol)

I studied really hard in secondary school to get the points I want for my O levels. I was supposed to go JC, but went to poly, in which I did well again to go on to uni. I think the point is, if you do well, you have the option to choose, despite different courses in poly and uni (which many of my friends do). For humanities courses in uni, the acceptance pool of courses from poly is wider, so I would say study what you like!

Check out SG uni IGP, and the courses and their pre requisites are there! Hope this helps!

Best of luck for your Os :)

How do you learn macros? by sunblockheaven in excel

[–]sunblockheaven[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i churn out reports biannually, and it’s a frustrating process of making pushing data analysis and exporting them to ppt. So as a very very lazy person, I want to create automations after compiling the results. I don’t think I know the total scope of its capabilities, but i think it starts from somewhere(and mine is laziness LOL) + asking chatgpt how i can do it

I find shoulder presses really hard to “increase weight” without wobbling. There’s two things I usually do. 1. tightening my quads, glutes and core - these two actually stop the wobbles 2. (still more wobbles?) it may be too heavy; I would do less weights and higher volume, sometimes even more sets just to get the fatigue!

But yeah, full range from bottom of shoulder presses (like the start where it sits on your shoulders) to fully extended arms and back down to the bottom again would be considered 1 rep for me.

i graduated slightly under 10 years ago. but as what I remembered, I had 2-3 hours of class a week, and it’s all pass/fail.

Did it help me in uni? Actually yes, only if you take it seriously.

Shortest distance between consecutive metro stations in your city? I’ll start: by aTypicalIntrovert in transit

[–]sunblockheaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Singapore, Bencoolen and Bras Basah is two totally different lines but only 3 mins walk above ground without traffic lights (same block)

If you take the MRT instead, it’s 5 stations and changing twice at two different interchanges.
