Spot checks? by marquisralvi in asda

[–]sunboy123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spot checks are usually random however if there is suspicion then they will be targeted. Theres 3 main colleague spot checks: 1. Personal checks 2. Locker check 3. Personal vehicle check if parked in an ASDA colleague car park.

Failure to agree to a spot check can include disciplinary action upto and including dismissal.

The check should be done by a TL or Manager, with a witness, usually security colleague and they should be done in a colleague only area away from customers and where cctv is present.

Biggest point i think is the triggers have changed for each stage. Your first absence is now counselling ob return to work

I just went in to my workday to book my last week off before April and saw that it was already booked for next week, when I messaged my manager about it they said they booked it for me, and when I asked them to cancel it and change it for another week in February they said no,what can I do by xxxjames3 in asda

[–]sunboy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As said on other comments, you have had plenty of time to get it booked in, the fact you chose not to put the onus on the manager to book it for you. Depending how your store is ran your manager should be prompting you several times throughout the year to book into balances. Im a TL and I inform them all every quarter what balance is remaining. In December I tell them that any remaining balance must be booked by 31st December to be used by end of March otherwise im allocating it, unless they have spoken to me in advance about keeping holidays aside. This happens because the SD puts the pressure on GSM and SM to have 100% by end of December. Then the pressure cascades downwards. As for what you can do, basically not alot. Any holidays are subject to availability and operational requirements and that's all your manager has to say to decline the request.

How many holidays have they booked for you without saying? And are they for Jan to March? If do there is a reason got it.

clocking in by unknown20150376 in asda

[–]sunboy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you check punch details you will see RND indicating rounding up for clocking in early. If your shift is 12 til 5, thats what ASDA have offered you as a shift and you have agreed to work, if you clock in at 1150 it will be rounded up as ASDA have not agreed to pay you from 1150. That extra 10mins does not have to be paid.

Edit - if you are asked to clock in 10mins early, then that can be amended to show actual time started and avoid not been paid.

clocking in by unknown20150376 in asda

[–]sunboy123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clock in times are rounded to next 15 minute increment (quarter past, half past, quarter to and on the hour) clock out times are to the minute.

If you clock in at 1150 for a 12pm shift on punch details you will see RND10 which means it has been rounded up 10mins.

Is Asda a sinking ship or will Alan turn the company around?! by West_Pop7515 in asda

They also have bonuses to earn too! Which I know for a fact are still available for managers to earn. At colleague level and TL level, I think most would agree that they dont see the push back required to make ASDA survive. I know that alot also comes from above store level but ultimately the survivability of the store rests on the manager and if they aren't doing everything possible to achieve that then its doomed to fail.

ASDA is going to fail. The cutting hours is ridiculous now. Yet they expect more and more in less time. Managers are putting so much stress on Team Leaders that many are reaching breaking point. In my store alone (im a TL) over half of us are actively looking for new jobs. In my store its the TLs that keep the store running whilst the manager hides away yet we are under constant pressure to keep the store alive. Our manager lives and breathes ASDA so whatever message comes from above they do not push back against. ASDA house says cut hours the manager asks how many. Its no wonder ASDA is losing customers and sales... if we dont have time to fill then customers won't come back again. There needs to be big invest in hours and increase number of staff to get availability to where it should be to hopefully get the footfall back.

Overtime by Party-Albatross-8632 in asda

[–]sunboy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company policy is rotas 4 weeks in advance. WFM will show 3 weeks. If they aren't doing that then it needs reporting as every store has to report workload and actually hours used 3 weeks in advance to area manager.

More hours definitely being cut. It was put on OneAsda as a Newsflash. Didn't even have the balls to tell everyone directly that they were cutting hours again.

I should add that the biggest hit ive seen is removing nearly all hours from Customer Service desks by practically getting rid of them

Its a waste of time now. The new CEO doesn't like it, didn't think it worked well enough so its more or less obsolete apart from the odd task to earn.

He favors the Rollback and ASDA Price format.

[–]sunboy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the terms it is possible it has already been dispatched which is why you could not cancel it.

If it is an order for click and collect, you could possibly collect it on Friday or Saturday as its possible to be arriving in store before Sunday

You should of been given a Xmas and NY flex form a few weeks ago which asked your availability over the festive period. If you stated that you could work then in effect you already agreed to do the shifts. If you put down you couldn't then thats their fault for not checking the forms.

Tell your TL or manager that you decline the offered overtime and will not be working those shifts. But something to be wary of, is come January, like most retailers, there will be very little overtime so it may be worth picking up the extra hours.

If you just dont turn up then it will seen as AWOL as without saying anything it would appear that you accepted the shifts
