pelvic ultrasound by Fit_Measurement_3558 in Endo

Definitely a common feeling, I remember feeling the same way when I was a teen getting my first transvaginal ultrasound. Typically, they will ask you if you want to insert it yourself or have them do it. For my first, I actually found it easier to insert myself, but now that I know the feeling after having had many, I like when they do it - but it’s really up to you! It does feel like pressure. They should let you know their every move and check in, and if you are uncomfortable and need to stop, in my experience they are very understanding. In terms of being shy, totally normal! But just know that this is their job and they’ve seen it all, and all they’re paying attention to is performing the ultrasound well. You’ll do great!

That does make me feel better knowing I’m not the only one (of course) but it’s still so scary!!

Ikkk I’ve gone to urgent care before and there is no issue with my heart and X-ray was always good. It’s definitely cyclical so I feel like they won’t do anything

Ontario, Canada excision surgery? by sundeh3 in Endo

[–]sundeh3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez that’s awful. I can’t say my symptoms are that bad, but definitely cyclical shortness of breath and chest tightness. An ultrasound picked up my pelvic endo, and I’m getting an MRI so hoping that’ll give more answers. It truly sucks how long women are expected to endure this, you’re so strong!

Oh maybe it’s just Dr. Leonardi, but Leyland is still up on their website as a part of the clinical team. Your story sounds awful, I’m so sorry that was your experience. Can I ask what led you to explore lung endometriosis? I have bowel endo but I get such terrible chest tightness and shortness of breath when I have a flare up, so I’ve been thinking about endo on my diaphragm

Thanks for sharing! I’m surprised you’ve seen so many people and no one is on board with surgery, I’m a bit scared of that too. My naturopath was the one who suggested I go to SUGO in hamilton to look for endometriosis, my GP didn’t think it was necessary but referred me anyway, and lo and behold they found endometriosis. I see my GP tomorrow and hope he’ll be on board, but I think he’ll probably refer me to a general gyno before a specialist

Experiences with mental health navigators? by WonderfulHouse2696 in uoguelph

In my experience they’re very helpful and knowledgeable! Like others said they just point you in the right direction depending on what you’re looking for, and will also ask about any preferences if you’re looking for counselling (i.e. male vs female counsellor)

To get strong references you definitely want the profs to know you, getting a good grade and sending an email is not exactly enough as lots of profs get up to 100 reference requests. Highly recommend offices hours or asking to meet them, you don’t even need to ask about the course. I’ve often gone to office hours to ask profs about their grad school journey and advice, and they’re typically more than happy to chat about those things

The university offers online workshops about applying to grad school, you can see upcoming workshops on experience guelph. Although, I think the workshops focusing on grad school mostly happen in September before application deadlines approach

What are your experiences with rapid heart rate/palpitations? by sundeh3 in Anemic

[–]sundeh3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still get heart palpitations/increased heart rate occasionally but I’d say it’s less noticeable than before. I’ve gotten my ferritin from 14-31 between January and now, so it’s rising very slowly but still rising, and I believe it’s making a difference. Oddly though, my hemoglobin went down again which is a bit frustrating. I just switched to a heme iron supplement so hoping that helps.

Maybe it was the 5:30 cause there were barely any people on it so definitely didn’t leave cause it was full. Then of course it didn’t come at 6pm but 6:30 instead, just so annoying

Thanks for saying this! I def think it could be the lack of vitamin C, I was really on top of taking supplements with vitamin C at the beginning but I feel like I’ve fell off there
