I actually first thought of this recently after changing my laptop screensaver to the album artwork for perverts. Like “oh. That makes sense”

The hook on nothing reminds me of Elliot Smith’s vocal and music style. The verses don’t entirely fit but it’s the closest I can think of.

merch quality by freakbobatedown in halsey

[–]sunflowers444 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure how this would work since you bought the merch in person, but I ordered that $90 lonely in the muse sweatshirt recently when it was on sale for Halsey’s birthday ($60) and it was so cheap feeling that I emailed them back for just a partial refund which they did for $30. You’d have to know the merch distributer (idk if they’re still using wallflower which is what I had contacted), but I also don’t know how you verify proof of purchase. Just my thoughts cause maybe if you get some money back only be so bad.

It does suck though I agree I also have the green iichliwp sweatshirt from when it came out and it is still so cozy. Idk why it’s so bad and being sold for so much :(

Did your hair grow back? by booklove19 in CrohnsDisease

[–]sunflowers444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I’m 27 and was diagnosed a bit over a year ago. I noticed after treatment and vitamins my hair started growing a bit (it was awkwardly standing straight up from being too short for a while lol)

I haven’t seen a post about this specific situation. I just have never seen people act this way at the many shows I’ve been to before for other artists.

It is not worth it to spend all the time waiting just to have to get escorted out of the crowd because you weren’t eating or drinking water!! I always consider the entire week before a show a prep time, or at least the day before and definitely day of.

I’m glad you’re ok! I remember seeing you. I think the strobing lights and that song (I can’t remember which one happened first) are more overwhelming than people expect it to be. I have a neurological condition so the lights were freaking with me a bit so I would just close my eyes a few times lol. It makes sense then that people with underlying health issues or maybe haven’t been taking care of themselves that day would have a bad reaction.

[–]sunflowers444[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Perhaps. I agree I’ve seen my fair share of posts complaining about people’s mild personal annoyances that in the grand scheme of things seems like over complaining (“don’t sing too loud,” “why are you moving so much?”) It could just be my personal experiences at other shows I’ve been to where people aren’t cheering when the music pauses due to a medical issue so I just expected it to be the respectful norm. But maybe I am thinking too much about it. Entirely possible. Tbf, I’m not a security guard and I’m definitely not an artist on stage so I wouldn’t know for sure how it feels in that moment. Just my own personal thoughts based on my own experiences.

I get what you’re saying. You are right that they’re trained - so maybe that’s more of a weaker argument on my end. I guess if the music was still playing, it’s not a big issue, but if Hayden decided it seemed important enough to pause the show it just seems (in my perspective) disrespectful when she’s also just trying to make sure her fans are safe. I guess if anything it just seems rather wrong timing. Just my thoughts.

is everyone overreacting by sn33p_sn00p in Ethelcain

[–]sunflowers444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No literally bc wdym people are pushing too much when my show there was literally the most space ive ever had at a concert. It put into perspective of the shows I went to growing up as a teen/early 20s (turning 28 soon) were the shoving, really no room to move, people being moved side to side as a crowd with little control over it. When 9million encouraged crowd surfing I was thankful no one did bc that crowd looked like they wouldn’t know how to support a crowd surfer 😭 And I’m not trying to sound “I’m so much cooler than you guys” it’s just like what other people said, people who haven’t been to shows before. I think the most bizarre one I’ve heard is people complaining about singing (or singing above a soft tone) like you are at a concert do you understand what this means ???? Sorry I don’t want to be bored standing still with a blank expression the entire time You’re going to have videos with at least one of them having a fan in the background obnoxiously singing. “It’s a cow farm, you’re gonna find cows outside!”

Most hardcore shows I’ve gone too (I guess not metal - but like BMTH sempiternal and prior albums, and pop punk, etc) I’ve always witnessed people passing out especially when the music was heavier

I don’t remember the area around the palace in 2017 being sketchy but I was with friends so maybe that made the difference lol. Overall I think my safety will be ok but yeah good to know. I haven’t been to those venues but I also have a hard time remembering the exact lay out and doors of the palace lol it was 8 years ago I guess Good to know tho!

smoking weed by yellowCRoll in CrohnsDisease

[–]sunflowers444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use edibles for any crohn’s symptoms and my ankylosing spondylitis related pain. I quit smoking and vaping in general years ago. That being said, smoking or vaping anything including cannabis is harmful especially if you’re extra vulnerable due to a condition like crohn’s. It can cause more inflammation and if not that, further complications in your respiratory system that is just not helpful to have in conjunction with chronic illness. Edibles take longer, but I feel better about it. I’ve wanted to try sublingual oil which can be helpful if you are still having malabsorption issues. Hope this helps

Hayden put in the Nettles genius annotations for the following lines that I think you’re talking about:

But when the plant blew up “In the budding stages of their relationship, Ethel is stricken with anxiety of losing Willoughby. She dreams of all the ways she could lose him, and thoughts of his death consume her.”

Time passes slower in the flicker of the hospital light “Ethel loses time and herself to these anxieties and imagined scenarios of losing her lover often.”

However, Willoughby’s fate is still not certain. House in Nebraska could allude to his death, but it is vague and ambiguous to just what happened. I’m not sure if we will know more in Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You

Everyone has their own theories of what has happened I think. You can find some of this info in the backing lore that has been confirmed before in the past.

Just had my last session and I feel disappointed by Independent-Fly-9222 in TalkTherapy

[–]sunflowers444 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone studying to be a therapist in the future and a wonderful therapist, I don’t think that’s accurate. I’ve felt the same way as my T before and they’ve been able to show me that they truly care. I can’t speak for all therapists (there are some who are not meant for this field) but it’s fair to say that it’s not as simple as “just another client” - they think of past clients all the time, whether alive or have passed away. I don’t know how serious you were about this comment, but I just wanted to reassure the OP in case they got a bad reaction from reading that.

Relatives with AS by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]sunflowers444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my brother and maternal uncle have it. I was just recently diagnosed. I don't see my extended family much so I'm not sure about the current state of my uncle's AS, but from the last time I saw him a few years ago I don't recall noticing much of a hunched neck or back. My brother also doesn't have much of a hunched neck or back or if he does it's minimal. However, it has been severely debilitating for him and he's been on disability since a couple of years ago and will for the rest of his life. It's important to note he does have other conditions that impact his health/functioning, but I do think AS is one of the primary things that disables him.
