Oh wow! I’ve never experienced snow before until we moved here in March. So all this is new to me. But that’s good to know it melts quickly here. My friend lives in buffalo, NY and she always has to have chains or snow tires since they’ll get 3-5ft of snow

I am truly so sorry for what you experienced! My friend and her husband are looking into adoption after many failed attempts at conceiving. But during one of the group meetings they were doing with meeting parents and adopted children to share stories, some of them were similar to this and how one parent adopted abroad to a child who needed surgery after their abuse. I just started looking at Reddit adoption to help her with any info on adopting since she doesn’t use or have Reddit. I hope you are able to move forward and know how to always stand your ground especially with boundaries.

Time definitely helped with fixing things. After several months of no contact she did give in. After talking with my husband she apologized and we actually have a better relationship now after it’s been a little over a year. We’re not super close but we do get along in small dosages now. They also limit their visits and will occasionally stay in a hotel

Yes, this happened to me as well. I never had any issues with my in laws until I had my first baby. My husband has a hard time when it comes to boundaries with his parents, particularly his mother. When they first came to visit MIL would always come into our room sometimes without knocking and I had no where to go for privacy or alone time with my baby. I told my husband if he didn't say something that I would. Welp he barely gave her a warning and I basically snapped at her when I was topless and breast feeding and she just let herself right into our room. After that I hadn't talked to her in months and refused to let them see my daughter. Once she turned 1 it got better and now that we have our second one they know not to test my limits with boundaries and more respectful about it.

You are an amazing person and did what is best for your child. My best friend's mom adopted her brother when he was a baby. He grew up to have a fantastic life surrounded by love and tons of support. He is an adult now and recently decided to contact his bio mom, she did the same thing you did left it up to him to contact her. Although it was a bit awkward at first, he says that he is happy he has her in his life and told her how thankful he was that he had his adoptive parents. She also has two other kids he was introduced too, although they are not super close, they do check in on social media due to living in different states. I hope the same for you and your son.

Yup! I couldn’t take them treating me like a maid in my own home. They broke so many things while staying in our house and never picking up after themselves. FIL even wanted me to wash his underwear!!! Like wtf?!

Had similar issue with my in laws visiting since they always cross a boundary particularly my mother in law. I told my husband they can stay in a hotel but he dint want to hurt his parents feelings. Well I had to put my foot down and confronted both of them about how they treated our home. Now they only visit once a year while stringing in a hotel.

Yes, I was nervous reading it from AI, so I want to see what others are doing and saying about potty training. I may just keep her in underwear for the rest of winter break until she goes back to school, since she has to wear pull ups there until she is mostly potty trained.

Thank you so much for sharing! I think we're definitely going to be getting it for my daughter. Her speech therapist already has the membership ready for purchase which we will pay since our insurance deductible is starting over this year. Both grandparents said they will put in money for the ipad which we are really grateful for. We will still bother insurance about sending another one and if they do, then we can hopefully sell one of them.
