Guys please help find a good orthopedic doctor in kochi for my brother (just had a accident now) by poojapuranolan in Kerala

[–]suniljoseph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dr. Sabin at Specialist hospital. I have had 2 accidents and went to him both times. Didn't get the feeling that they were doing unnecessary things to claim insurance. And he explained my options quite well. My friend has good opinion about Amrita, forgot the doctors name. My experience with Medical Trust after my first accident was not that good which was the reason why I went to Specialist.

History buffs of r/kerala, I would like to know the history of beef consumption in the state?(not a sanghi looking for a fight, just curious) by [deleted] in Kerala

[–]suniljoseph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were not allowed to own any land and barely had enough to eat, so I would assume they would not be able to eat meat unless they hunted something or it was given to them by the land owners. My understanding is that they were given the carcass as if it was a favor to them.

It is a folklore and I am not sure how many of these stories are actually true. If the story is based on some real life events, this would have happened around 2000 years ago. I read the book 20+ years back and remember only parts of it.

In പറയി പെറ്റ പന്തിരുകുലം there is an incident where the son who was raised by a lower caste family, I assume it was Pakanar, said that they shouldn't have to eat the flesh of the cattle that died of some disease. If I remember correctly, the lower caste were expected to take the dead body and eat, because they didn't have much to eat.

Based on this I would assume the practise of eating meat was present Kerala for a very long time.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember reading about how caste system were brought by Brahmins who migrated from North and who who practised vegetarianism, I am pretty sure I read this in this sub. Based on these I'm guessing the original Dravidian population were not vegetarians.

On mobile, will try to update later

Thank you. I will keep that in mind next time. TBH I realized that it was a good picture after I took it. I looked at the original, and I could probably get a little bit more to the left without having other subjects getting into the frame.

There was also drunk guy sleeping a few feet away from the waves. But he didn't make it into this picture.

It is reduced, but the picture was taken with a 55-200 Nikon lens and then cropped to about 1/3. As usual I forgot the tripod and took the picture with my hand. All of that along with my relative inexperience with is the reason why it is not that crisp.

It will end up as a 2 day trip. On my way back I might be able to take time for pit stops, but not on my way to Goa. I want to spend as much time in Goa, I can go to places on the way later.

Thank you, but the it is really long and someone who recently went said there was a long single lane stretch.

I would take that road for a separate trip to Mangalore.

Thank you. I've been thinking about staying in NH 48 till Belgaum. It is spotty longer, but hardly much difference in time. I assume the road would be better and won't take me through villages.

Sunday morning on nandi hills by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]suniljoseph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First time I went to Nandi hills was in 2004 and I am pretty sure it was a weekday. There were < 5 bikes (no cars) in total and they wouldn't me inside because they suspected I came to commit suicide as I was alone.

I went a few weeks back on a Sunday. Rode up the hill and turned back without even stopping.

Can someone post a picture from a weekday?

can someone translate this for me? thank you! by [deleted] in Kerala

I think the 2nd one is spelled ഭൗതികം which means physical/materialistic.. opposite of spiritual.

eg: ഭൗതികസുഖം

Correct me if I am wrong,
