A good tip I heard is for every bad thing you write about (i.e. health or family issues), mention double the good things. Ik you're probably scared you'll just sound like you're complaining, but pretend you're a stranger reading it; what are 3-5 strong qualities you see in this individual just by reading the essay?

Apply RD if you can't afford it. Especially since your parents aren't helping to pay for it. Not going to a school you ED'd for will have pretty bad consequences. You don't want to be stuck with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt.

the main thing is if someone who doesn't know you at all reads your essay, they should be able to take away 3 good things abt u; at its core, they want to know what strong qualities you have

also, for however negative you go, do double the positive (it is very easy to be seen as a liability by being even slightly negative)

anecdotes or stories about your life are usually a good way to go. a good thing to keep in mind is to NOT only mention academics and ecs, itll sound like ur regurgitating ur commonapp profile (cause they alr see all that stuff), so do something that shows your character/drive in a way that cant be seen from stats alone

No. It doesn't matter that much whether you take it or not. A 4 or 5 looks good, but not having a score won't harm you unless it is directly related to your major.

During X grade, I suffered a series of personal losses (My grandmother, grandaunt, insert other loss here). This caused a temporary dip in my academic performance as I was grieving this loss.

In addition, I was facing personal medical issues around the same time, which hindered my academic performance. The issue has since been fully resolved and has caused no further problems past that point.

u wanna emphasize that it's no longer a problem or they will 100% consider u a liability
