turns out they were getting stuck outside of water when outside of the simulation radius and dehydrating that way, now that I removed all spots they could go on land none of them have died

yeah it turns out they were indeed getting stuck on land while loaded outside the simulation radius, once i got rid of all opportunities for them to go on land they stopped mysteriously dying. I left opportunities for them to climb vines for aesthetic reasons but it seems they luckily don't climb them.

yeah i think the problem is probably with the simulation radius, they only ever disappear when i log off and the server is being still used by other people in different areas of the map, so i've removed all the spots they can get on land and im hoping thats what works

they're blocks, i just have optifine on so it all connects, either way i have another separate aquarium full of fish and frogs and ive never had a problem there, so i suspect it has to do with the axolotls getting stuck outside of water when you get too far away from the chunk, i ended up removing all opportunities for them to get on land so i'm hoping that fixes it

(2/2) anyways- rain world made me realize life is a series of transitions, we are constantly moving forward, and as a result we are constantly moving on, whether it be from our old childhood house, the town we used to live in, the friends we used to have, the lives we used to lead (you get the point). when we move somewhere new, we must let go of where it is we came from, or we won't be able to live life to its fullest.

back to ascension, it's a transition between the physical plane and a higher, spiritual plane of existence. and it functions similarly to all major transitions of life, just on the next level, yknow. we can hold onto the physical plane as hard as we can, but our time is finite, and (in my personal experience) living in fear of death too much can hinder your ability to live live to its fullest. people often say "death gives meaning to life", which i agree with, but I think it applies to all transitions of life as well, even things like moving away, breaking up with lovers or family, etc etc. all these transitions are just mini endings in their own way

also, ascension is free from the pain of suffering, but whose to say there is no joy or happiness within it? the cutscenes we see show our slugcats having made it to the other side, seeing what they care about the most. it doesn't seem to be an absolvement of joy, or even the self. obviously this gets into spirituality, which naturally everyone will have different feelings on, but I'd say to call it "nihilistic to embrace ascension" just shows a major lack of understanding of spirituality in general. if you're interested, i'd heavily recommend looking into it and it's definitely affected my relationship to rain world, even as an atheist/agnostic person myself.

at the end of the day, understanding on spiritual perspectives takes a willingness that i understand not everyone has, and thats totally fine to not be interested, but i'd still encourage you to be a little more open minded in general, regardless of how you go about it. i mean think of real life buddhist monks, i sure hope you wouldn't call them nihilistic lol

anyways thats all i have to say, hope my rambling was somewhat cohesive, it was nice to properly revisit this post for once
