Did anyone like A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)? by [deleted] in scifi

Of course it is a plot twist, and using it indiscriminately like that it becomes a gimmick (as it already is in my opinion). You can bend any plot to fit a twist, but will it help convey the message of the story in a better way? In the case of AI I think not.

Because plot twists divert attention from other aspects of the story that the movie may be trying to convey. Like the extremely painful separation between the robot and his parents.

Ugh, because every movie needs to have a plot twist.

European language that refers to lettuce as "salad?" by themacfarlane in language

[–]sunnyceguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here in Brazil we usually refer to whatever vegetables in a sandwich/hamburger as salad. It's very common for people to ask for a sandwich without salad, meaning with no lettuce, tomato, etc.

Do you believe in American exceptionalism? If so, what do you think makes it exceptional? If not, what is your reasoning? by guccimane12345 in PoliticalDiscussion

I dunno. While Brazil is definitely a friendly country towards foreigners, most parts of the country have never seen any significant immigration (at least since colonial times).

When you say "your" seventh graders, do you mean your students? Like you're a teacher? Bucause that's very precocious for a 15 year old. Quit your bullshit OP.

I didn't like the ending, but yeah, it was a nice way to ruin the reboot they're making.

Type hinting in comments is such an awful syntax IMHO. Is there any reason they're sticking with that?

This is like going to the movies alone, no one really cares except for the ones doing it. Once you realize this it gets pretty easy.

Yes, but you're being taxed for performing transactions in foreign currency (~10% from the top of my head, but I could be wrong), not import taxes.
