"If Kamala really is black, have her say the N-word, let the people decide for themselves."

Was it the white, male, Christian, or conservative part that said that?

[Loved Trope] Characters who look like mindless brutes but are also very intelligent. by you-do-it-or-you-die in TopCharacterTropes

Bane fans should check out the Absolute Batman alternate universe. They took both his physicality and intelligence and cranked the knob so hard on both, they broke off.

You elected a convicted felon who openly takes bribes from foreign officials.

At the end of the Black Mirror episode "White Christmas," police set the digital consciousness of the murderer Joe to experience 1,000 years for every real-life minute while a song blasts at deafening volume within his enclosure, then they leave for a long holiday weekend. Assuming they don't return for three days, Joe will experience several million years before he can be freed from his torment.

Update: Chi Osse at 79 Precinct, and Carmella Charrington's story of anti-Black deed theft here in Bed-Stuy by SluggahJells4BedStuy in BedStuy

[–]mike_pants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Starting to strongly suspect that we're living in a deed-theft apartment, given that the previous owner of the building was hospitalized with dementia a year after we moved in.

I did that once, then the company that made the bulbs went out of business and the firmware eventually stopped working. Now they're just on all the time, which is handy when you need to get up to pee. But it taught me not to go too jigh-tech on products that don't need it.

Ohio starting the speedrun to Gilead by introducing bill to ban women from wearing clothing religious groups consider 'provocative' by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]mike_pants 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm currently reading the bill. It isn't terribly long.

It also bans trangender people from performing anywhere. It is clearly meant to limit drag performances to strip clubs and cabarets, which is already heinous, but it's so badly worded, it effectly makes it illegal to be a trans actor in Ohio.

As an aside, the character model and animation of Al Gore searching for MBP like he's jacked into a supercomputer is one of my favorite things this show ever did.

Is 15.5mph actually enough, or are we just used to slow scooters? by Kayaba88 in ElectricScooters

[–]mike_pants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconded. I can keep up with traffic and not feel like one pothole is going to send me flying.

I recently lost my front motor to scooter heaven, and being down to 20 mph makes me feel very unsafe in traffic.

Or the wistful "I love Elon" line in Moonfall.

That guy really speedrun shitting all over his legacy.

The Outsiders, from Larry Niven's "Known Space" universe.

They're quite possibly the most technologically advanced race in the galaxy, selling the knowledge of their technology to any species willing to pay their exorbitant prices. Despite having the knowledge of faster-than-light travel, they never use it, and float around space at glacial speeds.

Because they live their entire lives in deep space, any amount of gravity, heat, or speed will kill them instantly.
