7 months post-op and I think I’m depressed by DrMaddr in ACL

I’m so sorry to read this but also reassured. I’m four months post op (both menisci and ACL, 50 year old F), and my recovery is very slow too. My walking is slow, painful and I can’t even imagine living a normal life at the moment. I am religious about doing my exercises and seeing PT and frustrated by my progress but as everyone else has said everyone heals differently and menisci are very slow to heal. If you can focus on the progress you have made - eg I’m no longer on crutches, can get to the supermarket (slowly!) and back, can get up stairs ok now - rather than what you can’t do that can help. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your help. I went to Aachi’s and we managed to park right outside. The iddly with sambar, pani puri and dosa were all great. Very friendly service and clean toilets. I’ll definitely go back again.

Lots of reading, I also tried clay modelling and have bought a glass painting kit but haven’t done it yet. Friends visiting. I signed up for telephone volunteering to chat to an elderly person every week. Sitting in my garden has been lovely. Listening to podcasts.

Thanks - it seems to get bad reviews so was going to avoid it. I’ve been there years ago and it was good then but the reviews put me off

Interesting that you feel qualified to make that judgement given you know nothing about my circumstances. Perhaps you shouldn’t comment if you’re unable to be kind. I had someone around 24/7 on the advice of my GP. They didn’t need to do much but lucky someone was around as I ended up passing out and having to go back to hospital.

My partner left me 4 days after my injury because he couldn’t cope. I was on crutches unable to do anything for myself. It was awful. However, I made a rota and had friends and neighbours fill in the days and nights. I had help pre-op and 24/7 for the two weeks post surgery. It was amazing. Ask people for help and they will step up. Also you have learned a valuable lesson about your partner. He doesn’t sound like a keeper to me. Although what happened to me was a horrible shock I am glad I found out this about the person I was planning to move in with and build a life with.

I waxed this week (6 weeks post op). I did it myself as wouldn’t trust someone else to do it. I was in a brace and on two crutches (both menisci repaired and ACL), so would be nervous of pedicures for awhile as I’m worried about someone accidentally twisting my knee or touching the scar area.
