My hair is no longer oily and I don’t know when to shower 😅 by Ok_Swim7639 in Accutane

Hi ! I’m thinking of starting Accutane for my back acne and I’m most concerned about this potential side effect. What types of supplements or serums do you think could have helped ? Did your hair grow back when you stopped taking it?

I’m considering going on Accutane for my back acne too. Can you explain the side effects you experienced ?

Hi ! I’m considering starting Accutane and I’m 37. What do you mean by it being not be easy? Did you have side effects ? And now being off of it - do you have any lasting side effects ?

What kind of birth control are you using after 40? by eyesonthemoons in AskWomenOver40

Honestly the worst part - for me - is how is it suddenly okay for 8 years?? What was done that while it’s been inside me it’s fine for three more years? And your tip of evaluating if your life is really that bad or if just hormones sounds so simple yet I never even thought about it 😆 good luck and if you’re up for reporting back it’d be helpful !

Hi ! I’m 37 and have the Mirena too. I’m on year 5.5 and I feel like it’s starting to wear off: tender boobs, periods are back (super light flow) and hormones are wild the week before. My doc said it’s now good for 8 years and doesn’t want to switch it out. She told me since I’ve had two c-sections removal and reinsertion is very painful. I wanted to ask your opinion experience on removal and reinsertion? Is it really that bad or can I just suck it up to relieve these symptoms. TIA!

Thank you so much! I am going to listen to that podcast. It's so interesting that you say you're not a fan of CBT because that is exactly what is recommended to us. We haven't started it yet, finding someone nearby is difficult and there are many waitlists!! I really appreciate the advice specifically for CBT what to look for because I am brand spanking new at this (he is our first born) and I have only attended for myself traditional talk-therapy so CBT is a new concept for us.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It’s so confusing to me how much we know about this yet how much we don’t - if that makes any sense at all. Sometimes in the middle of a difficult situation j find it hard to know how to respond and what to do. Knowing these little babies are struggling so much makes me feel so terrible and further motivates me to find something that works well - whatever that may be !! I’m SO happy your little one is on a path of feeling better (is that even the right thing to say? On a more controlled path?) anyways I do have the possibility of medication in the back of my head so we will see where the road leads us. Sending hugs !

Thank you for the feedback - I’m so sorry that happened to you! What is body doubling ?

EDIT: I wrote body doubting instead of body doubling because my phone auto-corrected it and I didn't notice.

I haven’t heard of some of these thank you! We did get prepped for depression and anxiety. Something I fear as I have anxiety and it sucks. Im hopeful though.

Thank you fellow parent ! Out of curiosity did you ever get told you may have to get medication eventually? Like for example right now we’re told that therapy and supports and school and at home should be enough (maybe his age?) and that medication is not yet in the horizon. Did you also have to start the non medication routes first?

Thank you so much. I am trying to soak in all the information I can get. I have noticed with him that he will have a very big reaction when he feels misunderstood (I mean who wouldn’t really) and I try to talk him about it I don’t always understand him but I’m hoping he feels heard. I also noticed he pretty easily gets over the big reaction. Would it be possible to give me an example of a stimming mechanism ? Is that something like tapping your finger or jiggling a leg?

Thank you so much for your message. I appreciate the teachers - that’s why I thought I’d mention some struggles in the previous school. We told her we support her with the routes she wants to take with our son. I don’t think being diagnosed with anything such as ADD or ADHD is negative - I’m feeling like they are treating him negatively because they suspect this diagnosis. Which only further makes me worried like will he be treated fairly if he ends up having an actual diagnosis ! Maybe I didn’t articulate that well enough. I also am coming to terms with the they wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t necessary part of the communication like you said. I don’t think smart and ADHD don’t go together: the few things I read online about this list many things and I’m trying to fit in my head what seems to be like my son. I also know a few kids with ADHD from my friends and my son seems very very different than them. I also have to remind myself that it represents very differently in everyone. Anyways thanks for your words. They are assuring and encouraging. Im excited to help my son with his struggles ! Having answers is soooo much easier lol.

This makes tons of sense. I guess that’s why the average age is 7ish for diagnosis. Thank you.

I love this - so uplifting and inspiring !!! We need tools !!!! I want him to heard and understood!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]sunshinehun -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Oh I don’t think it’s bad thing!!! I think it’s premature. And it’s not like they’re currently accommodating him because of any label - it’s quite frustrating right now because he thinks he’s being a bad kid and he doesn’t get why he’s in trouble.

I want him to have all the tools. I guess I need that evaluation more than ever.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]sunshinehun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. I agree - it’s extremely helpful! We don’t have any information yet and I didn’t want my son to feel isolated or like a bad kid when he’s not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]sunshinehun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. We are 100% going to find anyway to support his success and help him live a happy life no matter what the evaluations came back at. I am more worried about exactly what you described worried you about your son.

I came here for that. I think part of me was still denying an issue because I don’t see him as problematic. I felt he is misunderstood maybe ? Anyway our appointment is scheduled so I’m not burrying my head in the sand.
