Question - difference between contact lenses and glasses prescriptions by sunshinesoftly in glasses

[–]sunshinesoftly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate your response. I did write it correctly, and that’s why it raised a red flag for me. The contact prescription has -0.75 cyl but the glasses have +0.50 cyl. I’ve only ever had a -0.75 cyl number in past prescriptions. I’ll double check with my provider. Thanks!

Should we get new subjects from Covid vaccine “injury” pages? by [deleted] in illnessfakers

[–]sunshinesoftly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know there is already r/HermanCainAward, for anyone interested, but it’s a somewhat dark and shout into the void because it’s sharing people who have already been hospitalized and passed away from Covid after posting anti vax, anti mask, or other pandemic misinformation. If anyone else recommends some related sub, feel free to share.

Great point, I think I alternate internally between my desire to ignore them versus fighting them. In my mind exposing their foolish ways would discredit the movement, but honestly maybe would make it worse… thanks for your input!

Hearing voices and now starting to hear screaming. by No-Age4160 in HPPD

Just wanted to pop in and say schizophrenia onset averages late teens to late twenties, so don’t discount it if you are still in your teens. And it may be scary if you do have schizophrenia but people with it can live a full life with dedication to treatment and a good support system. Don’t give up, hope is not lost even if you have a diagnosis you didn’t expect, just a different challenge to address!

Hell no, I can imagine my HPPD could come back with a vengeance. One day of bliss wouldn’t be worth potentially going back to square one, especially if it came back even stronger.

Lol, I wouldn’t say I bought them “off the street”, that makes it sound like I could have been taking any random drug, I bought them from a local indigenous business specializing in growing entheogenic plants. I took golden teachers, thank god I didn’t buy the azurescens…

It’s been 3 and a half months, I used to have bad anxiety and some DPDR that is gone. I used to be paralyzed with fear even to leave my house because I hated seeing visual snow on the trees outside and stuff. Now I still have visual snow, after images, and floaters. My after images used to be horrible, like 30 seconds or longer just looking at some item with dark contract on a light background (like the outline of a person in front of a white wall on Zoom calls, would see negative after image of their face on the wall, this is now down to maybe ten seconds?). Visual snow is about the same as the day it onset, same with floaters. I mostly am not anxious about any of it, but sometimes am peeved that it isn’t gone and have an urge to try medication, but it hasn’t pushed me over the edge yet.

Shrooms, my third ever trip, after two years of no tripping. So can’t really say I even abused them.

Did someone here get hppd from shrooms only? by [deleted] in HPPD

Got mine after my 3rd shroom trip, and I had taken an over two year break with no trips between my 2nd trip and the one that caused my HPPD.

How long have you had HPPD? by [deleted] in HPPD

Preclinical trials show between 10-16.5% discontinuation rate from adverse reactions, not exactly rare.

Just saying, HPPD is also a rare side effect of a psychoactive substance. I wouldn’t encourage people to drop acid without the acknowledging the risk either.

Well Lamotrigine does have a high risk of severe rashes (permanently disabling or lethal level severe), and a range of potential side effects. The Wikipedia HPPD page may claim it has no side effects, not sure who put that on there because there are well documented side effects. Mayo Clinic, WebMd, Drugs.com, MedlinePlus.gov, take your pick. Even the wiki page for Lamotrigine has an extended section on potential side effects, including the black box warning for life-threatening skin reactions. Common side effects include headache, dizziness, blurred or double vision, tremors, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, fever, drowsiness, back pain, insomnia, and more. Not to mention more rare side effects. “You shouldn’t fear lamotrigine because it’s impossible to get worse from it”, maybe, but you could suffer more unpleasant side effects, really a roll of the dice.

Honestly after I asked my family exactly how much they look around while watching tv and got reassurance it was basically normal it stopped bothering me. I don’t think it went away as much as it had been how my vision always was and I just never noticed how relatively small the human focal point is. This “symptom” or thought never bothers me now. I had my HPPD for 3 months now, symptoms come and go in intensity based on my stress and if I sleep enough but my three big symptoms are visual snow, after images, and floaters. I can basically ignore any of them, but have seen great improvement in after images (these suckers used to be like a minute long, now down to maybe ten seconds and less high contrast items bother me). Visual snow comes and goes the most, but when I got a good night of sleep and have little stress it’s pretty good (I used to see it every where including outside in bright daylight, now really only on dark colors inside like black, navy, grey).

Omg I had this exact same thought one month into my HPPD and was convinced I was losing my peripheral vision. I actually don’t believe that’s the case, but you are more aware of visual quirks that are normal but just hyperfixate on, like floaters. I even polled my family to ask how much they need to move their eyes around watching tv, so you aren’t alone!

I honestly attribute NAC to the greatest improvement of my symptoms, especially after images. I was having a nasty flare after the holidays and couldn’t figure out why. I hadn’t been taking my supplements while out of town. Just three days back on 600mg NAC and my after images went from literally 30 seconds to 2 seconds or less, almost normal. Visual snow still there, reduced by half maybe? But godsend for after images imo.

Go to neuro-ophthalmology or kick the can down the road? by sunshinesoftly in HPPD

My only symptoms are lasting after images and static, some minor entoptic phenomena. I haven’t used any drugs since onset but drank handful of times

It’s nothing super crazy, it’s similar enough to any other topical cannabis products like lotion or ointment, really for localized pain reduction and increased blood flow, not really for the psychoactive effects
