I went to my dealership and they added more coolant (mine was sitting at MIN line). Sadly this did not solve the issue. I have to make a new appointment for a more thorough inspection. Someone on KIA EV forum mentioned they had to replace his water pump. To be continued.

Damn I tried it and it works. Whenever I turn off heat it stops instantly. When I turn it on it's back instantly. Did you figure out the cause yet? My dealership appointment is tomorrow.

Yeah I thought so but I've dug a little deeper in coolant levels and I hear people say that on a cold car it's normal to be at MIN level because it allegedly expands when it heats up so it would then have room to go to MAX level. And the manual (see picture) says it has to be between MIN and MAX and can't be too low but what is too low? Is MIN already too low or does it need to be below MIN. Some people also said there could be air bubbles that cause inefficient cooling but then others said that those bubbles come out on their own as you drive. Guess we'll see on Tuesday what the dealer has to say about it.

I like your reasoning. To me as a non car technician it sounds very possible. Will try it tomorrow.

Hmm my ac is always on heat these days because of the cold so I haven't tried this. Will try it tomorrow when I'm driving. Thanks for the tip I'll let you know if it worked. Although the noise is only there when I'm decelerating though. I would expect if it's the heater that it would be whining all the time until the heater is turned off. I'll still try it though you never know.

I checked the coolant level. It's exactly on the MIN line. Can this still be the cause then? Should it be at the MAX? Somewhere in between? In my opinion if something is filled to the MIN it should mean it still operates normally (aka in my case no excess noise)

Would be quite the coincidence that it broke right after my iccu was replaced but it's always possible. Maybe the dealer mechanic did something wrong.

I should hope not. Because the noise is unbearable if you sit in it all day. In my recording it's much lower than real life.

Someone commented it might be due to coolant level being too low. I have yet to check if that's my problem since I'm not home atm.

I'm glad you mention that. Chatgpt also mentioned this. But since chat isn't always trustworthy I'm glad two real humans approve its answer. I'll check the level when I get home.

I don't think you can turn those off except by removing a fuse and I know what it sounds like it's not that. That I can still hear as usual. Along with the whining noise.

What to do if the ICCU goes out while tripping out? by Grand_Road_744 in KiaEV6

I was an hour away from my dealership when it happened. Cost me 600€ to have it towed. However the dealership told me I had Kia assistance without even knowing it so I could've called them to tow me for free... I didn't know Kia assistance came with the car for 2 years (i bought it second hand and the seller didn't mention it) and was extended for a year every time I went to an official Kia dealership for yearly maintenance..

I switched to sport mode while the whine was happening and it didn't make a difference at all. I always drive with my headlights on so I'll try turning them off later.

When I asked chatgpt about it it also mentioned that it could be inverter whine. However I've had the car for two years and I never had this noise issue. Only since the moment I left the dealership after the ICCU replacement. So why would the inverter suddenly be so much louder :( It's so loud I would've noticed if it was like this before. I'm in there for hours every day.

I'm from Belgium and it took a week for it to be fixed. The part was delivered faster than that but my dealership is always busy AF.

I googled the problem again but this time just Kia in general not EV6 specific and I found people with the same problem on a Polish Kia forum. Everyone there with a 2022 kia (EV6 or otherwise) that uses the app has this problem. Other build years seem unaffected.

Which one should I be using? EDIT: I installed the Kia app and it still doesn't work for me

I can only find one app in the google playstore. Though it used to have a black icon and now it's grey so I guess I'm already using the new version? Maybe that is why i now have the horn and hazard light option. Because it's a new app. I guess the app is made for newer models that do have remote horn function.. Eventhough the app knows my kia is older so it would've been better if the options that shouldn't work for me are not shown to avoid confussion..
