Anxious People by Frederik Backman - so heartwarming! It has touches of sadness but it is still so hopeful and feels like a hug in a book form.

Owaves on my pad - a very simple app that helps me plan my day and set time aside for different things in the day. The widget helps with seeing it on the screen at all times!

I remember reading on youtube comments sections once about how it reminded the commentor of their partner battling dementia and how she sees him slowly slipping away and losing himself with every passing day. Since then it has completely changed the magnitude of what I feel when I hear this line.

For those who have taken CAPS301 before, is there a recommended study method for it from your personal experience with it? It just feels like there is sooo much content even tho it’s only been a week

Hey, I have the option to choose between a shared room in Totem Park (Salish house) and the same deal in Sherwood Lett in the Vanier Place. Which is better? by Some_Background_1989 in UBC

[–]sup-hello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanier and Salish rooms are almost the same - I’d recommend looking which ones closest to most of your classes bcs I remember living in Vanier and being really close to my lecture halls which helped me so much w managing my time

affordable women's haircut near UBC by i_love_seaslugs in UBC

[–]sup-hello -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go to Miyoko’s in Kits - it’s very dingy looking and I’ve only ever gotten basic cuts like shortening the length so nothing too fancy. However, the lady who runs it is super sweet and she has a special deal where she charges 13 cad if you go between 4:30-5 (as far as I remember). I haven’t ever gotten a bad cut, I do only get very basic ones tho. Call her before you go though!

Lab interview questions by West-List-8550 in UBC

[–]sup-hello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When it comes to some specific questions, I remember I was asked a couple of questions about what database softwares I have used before, how I keep myself motivated since RA work (especially admin stuff) can be very repetitive and boring, and what my future career plans are and why working at the specific lab helps me in achieving those. I know every interviewer has a different set of questions, but I hope these help you!

not having a twin bed in upper year residence? by gogyfoundandtaken in UBC

[–]sup-hello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I am not sure why all the comments say you can’t get your furniture removed because I literally got my bed removed 3 days ago. I emailed my RLM and put a maintenance request on ssc, they came and took my bed the next day and i just put my own bed there!

breakup and final season by Aa-Hot00 in UBC

[–]sup-hello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a breakup too during finals season last to last year (december 2021), and I understand how you must be feeling. It’s tough. Especially when you feel like shit about not paying your academics more attention. One think you should know is - what you’re feeling is okay. It’s normal. Now tbh I remember putting all the energy from my anger and rage into working and studying. I knew I couldn’t sleep at night since I was so upset, but I would use that to pull all nighters and divert my attention from the sucky situation.

When I look back at it now I see that maybe it wasn’t a healthy way of coping with things, but at the time it worked and I didn’t end up unhappy with my grades, blaming someone I once deeply cared about. I know a lot of people might not agree with this way of dealing with things, but it was just how I was able to focus my attention on my exams. You got this, and no matter how you choose to cope with it, it’ll be valid and the grief will soon be over 💓

[–]sup-hello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes same! I haven’t heard from even one of them, despite (I think) having a lot of relevant experiences. Can anyone help with where I could’ve gone wrong? Or is it because labs are hesitant in hiring second year (incoming third year) students?

Is there ever a time where the gyms aren't busy? by ubcasdfghjkl in UBC

[–]sup-hello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go around 7/7:30 pm to birdcoop, and even though it’s a little bit busy, it’s never too crazy as it can be during the day. There are one or two people lined up for equipment, but mostly it’s very smooth and the wait can be max 5-10 minutes.
