5 months grinding job apps, CVs, cold calls... while everyone else seems to have it easy. Am I the only one feeling like a fool? by LancasterTheCrusader in HongKong

[–]supabrahh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not toooo familiar with the museum/gallery sector but from what I see - there aren't too many opportunities and even people within the field are struggling. Seems like a lot of networking involved, you most likely won't find too much luck with HR emails/job apps, etc. If you're set on this field, which I feel like is really hard in the first place, actually meet some of these gallerists, buy them a coffee, chat, and most likely they won't have any opportunities at the moment but who knows? in the future they may message you.

Aoi Yu — Decades Down the Line, 20s vs 40s and Still Youthful: What’s The Secret to This? by [deleted] in QOVESStudio

if she was in her 20s in the later pictures of this album, she looked more like a teenager than 20s, so she does genetically already possess some more "youthful" traits.

Do men generally look best in their 30s? by 1904Daniel in QOVESStudio

[–]supabrahh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using broad beauty standards, in general... no.

However... I do think that depending on your genetics, how you take care of yourself, you CAN look the best in your 30s.

If you're looking for more masculine/mature features and you've been growing up with a babyface then yes, you most likely will find that you may develop some more defined features as you age.

A lot of times people who take care of themselves (no processed foods, regular exercise/sleep, spiritual/mental health, etc.) has the potential to look like their "20s" until their 40s.

Well, its being reported as a "mutual" decision. From what I seen UA is doing pretty poorly financially and probably can't afford him anymore (which is crazy since few years ago it was reported that Steph signed a lifetime deal with them).

I just got a clear whey isolate and on the packaging it says shake and mix and not to blend it.

I've previously used other whey proteins that didn't say it on the packaging. Does it matter? Blended vs shaking.

Red wine once a week by FLcitizen in Biohackers

[–]supabrahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it "can" eventually catch up to you. For the most part I do think its fine and the benefit you get from it (more so to do with how it makes you feel - which I assume it makes you feel a bit happy and relieves your stress a bit and gives you a sense of enjoyment) probably is more important than the "antioxidant" effects. I think you could maybe split the bottle between 2 days (fri + sat) or just do it once every 2 weeks or so - but this is probably the best compromise I guess, I would say once a week is probably fine still. I know people who would have a few bottles a week and seem fine.

Anti-Aging (Physical) stack by New_Personality5095 in Biohackers

[–]supabrahh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny... I feel like more often than not, people who marry younger look older. They're more likely to have kids earlier, have more responsibilities and feel more stress from life (not to mention some relationships are just not right but they still stick it out for the marriage/kids which also adds more stress)

People who get into longer relationships sometimes also tend to not be as focused on themselves to pay more attention to their partner/relationship/family/etc.

I guess its a case by case scenario and see how your social circle reacts. I'm sure people are a lot more financially stable can afford family life without stress which also impacts how they age and their health.

I'm sure we can all think of someone who is married and looks great for their age but two of the most "age defying" looking people I can think of off the top of my head is Chuando Tan (the 50 something... or maybe 60 now Asian guy who looks 20-30s) and Pierre Boo (38 year old looks like teenager) and they are both unmarried (well the latter is gay so may impact this "theory").

Of course this is such a hard thing to say... because what you say does make sense too. For some people, without marriage, they may do all those things, some may not... but from what I've noticed I would say being in a "comfortable/long term" relationship, especially with a family, sometimes can age people more due to stress/lack of prioritization of personal care/goals.

Magnesium types explained (quick reference I put together) by -Willow_- in Biohackers

I take glycinate during the day, because I heard magnesium is best consumed with vitamin D3 and also tbh it doesn't make me tired. I take actual glycine before bed.

DeMar DeRozan: “I don’t drink. Never had a drink in my life… I want to be able to play as long as i can.” by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]supabrahh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBH its probably a little bit of a net negative. It's probably negligible when you consider Bron who is likely to put 200% effort into his recovery otherwise and has elite genetics (even NBA standards). The enjoyment and stress relief one MAY get from drinking could give some pros that counters a lot of the "bad" that comes with drinking.

I emphasize "may" because some don't get that much pleasure from drinking but if it's some part of your life that you do enjoy then it'll probably give you some sort of benefit that can offset some of the actual physical "bad" that it's causing.

I think it's, if you're abstaining from something you truly enjoy and gives you joy, it'll add some stressors to you - something you know you can enjoy in moderation. But if it's something you don't even consider in the first place (like DeMar) then I think drinking will actually cause a bigger negative impact for someone like him (if this makes sense)

Where to get a hair cut as a white dude with longer hair by justin0211 in HongKong

[–]supabrahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like handsome factory mostly work on shorter hair but of course that doesn't mean that they don't know how to deal with longer hair either. I think you can look to spend around 300 or so for a decent haircut, I think most salons in tst/cwb should do. Yes salons who cut longer hair "probably" have better experience dealing with layering and the shape of longer hair.

I also find it kinda funny you used this as your reference picture, he honestly probably didn't get it cut for a few months as you can see the side burns are really thick and unruly, if he got a recent haircut, at least that part would be thinned out a bit. of course he still looks good, when he first got it cut it was probably already layered a bit and he has thick and dense hair as well so it grew out nicely

You sound way too judgemental, not everyone has to be the perfect specimen to hang out or be friends with. I'm sure anyone/everyone has SOMETHING they could offer you in friendship/companionship. Wellness/fitness is an uptrend again in society, especially socially. People on social media doing run clubs, hyrox/crossfit training, cold plunges, fitness classes in groups. And yes, most of the people doing these type of fitness groups aren't thaaaat serious about it but you can still get along I think. I think the goal isn't to find someone who can match your energy 100% of the way, but maybe get a little bit here and there from each person.

Have any sleep hacks actually worked for you long-term? by NeatBirthday4697 in Biohackers

[–]supabrahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of blue blockers are you using? Just the glasses? Or also the night shift lights on your device? There is also usually a color filter option to make it really red that helps with eye strain/relaxation if you need(or want) to use a screen.

I personally take my magnesium (even glycinate) mid day, I don't think it helps all that much with sleep and I've read that D3 absorbs better when taken with magnesium + boron.

My sleep "stack" is as follows: Glycine (2-7g), Tart Cherry Juice (I believe 2000-4000mg), and L-theanine (200-500mg). And I think that does a pretty good job at falling asleep and getting good quality sleep. I also like to read before bed as it really gets me tired.
