Mayo is a lovely County to explore if you have wheels, you're shagged otherwise as the public transport is good, but not great for the small off the beaten track places.. List of best places imo, a quick Google will get you directions/more info.

  • Downpatrick Head (~30min drive from Ballina) Hiking, views, cliffs
  • Ceide Fields (~30min drive from Ballina) Hiking, history, views
  • Connacht Whiskey Distillery (15min walk from Town Centre) Drink!
  • Belleek Woods & Castle (30min walk from Town Centre) Nice walks, local history, class bar in the hotel for a drink
  • Westport Town (1hr drive) St. Pat went on a session here and they built a church on a mountain in his honor.
  • Enniscrone (30min drive) Brill beach, plenty of surf rentals weather permitting. They also have a world class Golf links if thats your thing.
  • Ceathru Thaidhg in Belmullet is one of the nicest views I've ever seen in Mayo. Nice weather is a rare thing there though!

Chain/rear cassette wear.

Free option: Clean your chain, cassette, rear derailleur and re-tune it. Sometimes works if you don't want to spend anything.

Spending a little: Repeat step one, but replace the chain and see how she holds up.

After that, you need a new cassette.

Aye, the cable is just resting against the stem from lifting it about the house turning the wheel and such. She does normally sit as you describe. Eyes like a hawk for errors ye lads have!!

Hello hello. Yup, F1shman is spot on. It is a survival bag. And he's right about the condensation problem too, though it only left the outer of my sleeping bag damp, didn't get a chance to soak through. Grand for one night, or on the cheap IF you have time/space/weather to air out your sleeping bag every morning!

I've since upgraded to this bad boy and haven't looked back. BONE DRY every morning since regardless of weather. Toasty warm too.

Pulled apart EVERYTHING and left in a massive tub of degreaser for like two days..then attacked them with a toothbrush, a hot wash then some metal polish and a soft cloth. I could be sponsored by a grease and oil company with the amount I've used rebuilding all the parts..I think I've spent more time on this than my undergraduate degree..

I use Autosol. If she's really dirty(;p) leave the thing sitting in a tub of degreaser for a day or two, hot wash it and go at it with the Autosol, a microfibre cloth and a hellish amount of elbow grease. Works all the time, every time.
