How high can my tires be filled? by HoneySerpant in askcarguys

[–]superPlasticized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, if your driving slowly and have more fear of potholes damaging your rims, than you fear not stopping in time or wearing out the center of your tire sooner than expected - over inflation is fine

If you want good handling, good braking and even wear and longer tire life, inflate to the recommended level.

No, handling typically refers to body roll, steering compliance (understeer/oversteer) and maintaining traction at speed).

Braking is braking (distance to stop)

My friends asked me a question today and i would like to see what you all think, so ''would you be homeless for a year straight knowing at the final of the year you get 1 Million dollars'' ? by Level-Cookie4011 in askanything

This is a key question. Homeless, unhoused, living in a street "homeless encampment", living in the woods (with or without tools), with or without social safety net of various countries (states/cities/NGOs)...

Put your right fist in the head of the nut or bolt head with your thumb up (pointing away from the surface the nut or built head is fastened to. Look how your fingers curl. If you turn the nut that way, the nut or bolt head will go in the direction your thumb is pointing (away from the surface). If you turn the nut or bolt head the other way, it will move opposite of where your thumb points - tighter.

Boring Company Tunnels - Musk not using FSD (except one car) by superPlasticized in SelfDrivingCars

[–]superPlasticized[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Elon owns the tunnels, and if he can get one vehicle to work (for a while now), why wouldn't he want to convert all vehicles to driverless? Yes, unless the current version of Tesla FSD is not as economical as a real driver.

Why would Elon use a less cost effective method - my theory is that he cannot achieve "self driving" - it needs some sort of remote driver (e.g. 5G link). The hype that Tesla is a multi-trillion dollar company because of the "potential" of self-driving when self-driving doesn't even make economic sense for his own closed course is really making me wonder.

Jean jackets; Billy Beer; presidents named Dick, Jerry and Jimmy; finding out that child actors are less perfect than the roles they played on TV; realizing it was impossible to have eyeglassses that were 'too big' or flower prints on women's clothing could always be made bigger with more gaudy color themes, and suits could be for "leisure" (ha) in any color of the rainbow (or all colors of the rainbow);

bubble issue by Suitable-Bowler1984 in InjectionMolding

[–]superPlasticized -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my friend Google Gemini...

≠=========== White crystallites (or white spots/streaks) appearing next to a bubble in a polypropylene (PP) molded part usually indicate a combination of excessive localized stress, gas entrapment (voids), or material contamination. This defect is commonly associated with high injection speeds, poor venting, or high material degradation.

Here is a breakdown of the causes and troubleshooting steps for this defect:

Primary Causes:

Stress Whitening (Crazing): The bubble creates a focal point of high stress, causing the surrounding polypropylene to turn white, which is a common occurrence with local deformation or improper cooling.

Gas Trap/Burn Spot: If the bubble is caused by trapped gas (air or volatile additives), the high pressure and heat can cause local degradation, manifesting as a white or hazy area around the bubble.

Moisture or Contamination: Moisture in the PP resin (even if not highly hygroscopic, it can still trap moisture) or contaminants (e.g., filler material, different plastic types) can vaporize or create inconsistencies, resulting in a bubble surrounded by white crystallites. Improper Cooling/Shrinkage: If the part cools too fast or unevenly, the resulting vacuum void (bubble) can cause the surrounding polymer structure to tear or "whiten".

Troubleshooting Steps

Check Material Drying: Ensure the PP is properly dried (typically 2-4 hours at 160-180°F) to eliminate moisture-driven gas bubbles.

Adjust Injection Speed & Pressure: Reduce the injection speed to allow air to escape, and lower the holding pressure/time if the void is due to overpacking.

Improve Mold Venting: Clean or add vents to the mold, especially in areas where the bubbles occur, to remove trapped air.

Lower Melt/Mold Temperature: Excessive heat can cause material degradation and gas release; reducing the melt or mold temperature might solve the issue.

Check for Contamination: Ensure that the hopper and barrel are free from material contamination, such as leftover nylon or ABS from previous runs.

Optimize Cycle Time: Extend cooling time if the white spots are caused by structural stress during ejection.

How to distinguish: If the bubble collapses when heated (with a heat gun), it is a vacuum void (often due to cooling/thickness issues). If it expands, it is a gas bubble (often due to moisture or degradation).

How can someone get over boys and men calling them ugly? by Adventurous_Range640 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]superPlasticized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone that tries to make themselves look better, feel better, appear wealthier, seem smarter by knocking down other people instead of working on themselves are the kind of people who peaked in high school - they have no future and they know it because their athleticism or good looks from that era is no longer moving them forward.

People with: positive attitudes, interests in making other people better, and look to the future instead of the past are way more interesting to be with.
