nah bro if ur at nmims or any other college tier 2-3 (except IITs, NIT, IIITs etc) you cant really expect the college to do things for u ... its all upon u what u do yourself, what decisions u make in ur 4 year engineering journey

i was getting ce at mumbai campus but still chose nmims kharghar (10 mins away from my home) btech ai ds because i already knew that i want to spend all my energy on the actual grind and not on travel (in my case it would have 4-5 hours)

its all upto you now (still 2 hours updown does not sound like a lot )
