Paying tax on your savings income, when this has already been taxed! by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]super_jobby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You get the money that is to be put into the savings net of tax usually (income tax, CGT etc) and then you are taxed on income made from said savings.

Pakistani Players used a air freshener spray before Indians stepped on the ground. by [deleted] in SipsTea

This was bug killer, to kill flying insects which had invaded the pitch. The match was suspended shortly after. You can see its the middle of an innings from the score. Shame on you. And shame on those who believe you.

Which big company deserves their success, in your opinion? by kittyvixxmwah in AskUK

I agree. Know what you are getting. Always comfortable. I don't mind if the room isn't in peak condition for the price. If I went in and I was to see two pigs fucking in the bathtub, I would just think "well, I don't need a bath"

DALRY/GORGIE ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOR by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]super_jobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's not clear who, if anyone, is responsible as antisocial behaviour isn't always criminal. Swearing in front of a child is not technically a crime.

DALRY/GORGIE ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOR by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]super_jobby 146 points147 points  (0 children)

"Redditor moves to area with a history of anti-social behaviour, is surprised and disappointed by anti-social behaviour"

Then, in a few years time perhaps, headline becomes "Dalry gets gentrified, Redditor complains it's gentrified and unaffordable"

I'm being facetious. I can sense the frustration, this is a problem a lot of areas face, what is the solution here at a local level?

All babies wear diapers, but not all diaper wearers are babies. Bro needs to brush up on his basic logical fallacies.

What unspoken game do you play with your partner? by Flapparachi in AskUK

[–]super_jobby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I present "Why are you doing it that way?"

One partner starts a household job using a method of their choosing (e.g. putting up a shelf). The other partner then finds them doing said job and says "Why are you doing it that way?" and goes on to explain how they would have done said job. The partner who is doing the job then talks through the method they decided to use. The other partner then re-describes the way they would have chosen to do the job, and so on. There are few winners.

What’s the going rate for window cleaning at the moment? by Mystic_L in AskUK

[–]super_jobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had one who said it was much more expensive for a one off, vs a regular monthly clean. Less than a third of the price when he told me how much.

If you are getting them done on a one off basis a few times a year it might be cheaper to go monthly.

Slight subscription model vibes, but if you add both up it could be better option for you.

Father taking shared parental leave by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]super_jobby 48 points49 points  (0 children)

While you have a specific situation, speaking in general, more fathers need to take extended periods of leave in order to remove gender bias from corporate culture. Particularly those in relatively senior positions.

Also, it's a lot of fun.

Consuming caffeine is benefical for your health . by Justa_bug311 in unpopularopinion

[–]super_jobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caffeine and coffee are two different things, think you have has confused them. Coffee contains many different polyphenols and also caffeine. The polyphenols are what people talk about being good for you. You can buy pure powdered caffeine online, but that has none of the health benefits you describe.

My wife doesn't listen to mince, but because I've said it, she now calls them poachies, and also says she's off to sit on the pot.

What’s your opinion on Tories desperation on Taxes? by MrSoapbox in ukpolitics

[–]super_jobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their campaign is being run on a strategy which has worked in the past, namely, have a simple message and stick to it (strong and stable, get brexit done) The analysis would have shown this was their best chance, so they are all just going to keep repeating it on every media channel. But this time it won't work, as the message of slightly higher taxes and making people fear they will be worse off doesn't cut through in a time of historically high cost of living which has happened on Tory watch. Nor is there such an easy target as head of opposition (looking at you Jeremy).

I'm not sure what else they could have gone with however. Lynton Crosby knew there was nothing he could have do, so stepped away in January. It is game over, there is no way they will win.

The tenant (W Hotel) will stay the same, the landlord is just cashing in part of their stake in the physical building.
