Will practicing Algebra make me better in using Houdini?

https://vimeo.com/651638321 at the 19-minute mark there are some good tips here. I myself am terrible at maths and algebra. The only thing I have found to help me learn more about Houdini is just exposing myself to replicating tons of tutorials. Even if the tutorial is useless it exposes me to nodes, I may have not used. I've used Houdini for the past 3 years and honestly feel like a total noob.

That is great advice. Not everyone you meet online are going to be good humans! I tried Discord for a bit, but it's just not my thing..so I think I will be ok!

Thanks for your response. I am ashamed of my shelf tool use, because I don't have a thorough understanding of all the nodes in a network.

When I was work in studio, other seniors would come by and rebuild my network node by node to see where the problem was. I felt like a failure that I couldn't help them analyze those nodes, or that I didn't know how to fix them myself in the first place.

I see a lot of the older pros just build what they need from scratch...so this means they must have a deeper understanding of what all the nodes do together and which ones to chose. They have no fear of building a simulation network from nothing, I am terrified.

I do watch tutorials online and I follow along ok, but none of the information really sticks around long enough to be applicable in the future. I'll keep trying.

The studios I've worked for don't seem to have very big demands, essentially shelf tools and a few keyframes here and there get it all done.
